I find this young mans perspective actually quite refreshing. We hear all the time about how the aircraft is not an manuearable as an F-16, how it can’t supercruise like an F-22, how its stealth is lacking. I am not a huge fan of the aircraft, but at least someone with literal hands on experience has something

I actually think that Iran used it fairly effictively against Iraq during their war in the 80s. I could be wrong though. You know what Iranian propaganda is like.

Honestly the 6.2 Diesel with or without a turbo is kind of a dog. Especially when you consider all of the weight that they have to push around. Buy the cheapest one you can and swap in an allison with a duramax and call it a day. I am sure Banks would be more than happy to make that swap happen.

The S-300 has a claimed top speed of around Mach 4. Russian designs however crude some of them may be are still very formidable. This is especially true when it comes to their missle inventory.

Couple of issues, first F-22 tooling is long gone even more in the A-10s case. F-15s cant fly on or off Aircraft Carriers; with modern SAMs the SR-71, however cool it was would be fairly easily shot down.

Granted I have not read through yet, but what the bloody hell happeend here?

Unfortunately I think you are right. The F-22 will be retired long before living up to its true potential. I remember cringing at reading how they were canceling some uprgrades and postponing others for the F-22.

I am thinking the advancement in unmanned aerial combat vehicles and the great strides made by near peer states in their area denial anti access capabilites means that the days of the piloted aircraft are coming to a very rapid end. Therefore no 6th Gen fighters. I still have my doubts about the LRS-B being piloted.

There is that, I guess I have to start saving up for one then.

This sounds more like what really happened. I read a little bit about the process on a number of Doug DeMuro’s post on importing his Skyline. I remember GAS seemed to bring over a mexican registered RS a few years back and let Jay Leno drive it. But the specifically said that the car was not legal to own in the U.S.

The older ones that I saw were right hand drive and everything. I really wish I knew what happened to those cars and who the owner was.

22B the most drool worthy Subaru of all time. The closest I have ever gotten to one of those is Gran Tourismo on Playstation 1. I always wanted a 2.5 RS because of that car. The Evos on the other hand I have had the priveledge of seeing some of the older models in person.

So this woman is really saying that after buying what is at least a 10 year old car, driving it for over a year and having it spontaneously combust is the dealers fault? Did she take it for service at the dealer? That is the only way I see the dealer being at fault with this one.

I think GAS had a car very much like this. I think they did a little drive around on Jay Lenos Garage and filmed it. They said they did just that. Brought it in from Mexico, but that it had to go back in six months.

If it truly is legal, than it more than likely got in on the Show and Display import law.

The CH-47 and CH-53s aren’t exactly brimming with missles and rockets. These helos were made to carry troops and equipment. The same principle applies to the CV-22.

It was never meant to be a gunship. It was meant to increase the range and speed of the Marines Helos. It had teathing issues but they ended up working through them and turned it into a very valuable asset.

Wow that is a cool story. I will definitely look that up once I get home. Stupid moving picture filters at work won’t let me access youtube.

We are definitely past to point of no return on this one. Here is hoping (in vain) that the LRSB doesn’t spiral out of control like the F-35.

I would tend to agree, but the whole problem is what it will cost to get to that amazing. It is not the first and unfortunately probably won’t be the last financial clusterfuck. The Tech is cutting edge and someone has to pay for it to get fielded. I guess the real question is how much is too much?
