My wife and I watched it initially for Alan, but stayed for Rachel...lol. I’ll also say that the finale ending was one of the most ice cold “reality” moments I’ve seen in a long time. I was pleasantly surprised by the show in general.

I was already a fan of the books before these movies were made, and I actually really enjoyed the first one as a “Tom Cruise action flick”.
