I’ve been saying exactly this for years. Baffles me that so few get it. Dealers are NOT an expense to manufacturers, they save cost. If dealers went away, assuming you have any negotiating ability at all, you will pay more. Whiney little Internet bitches might pay less, but they are not my problem.

Clearly the jobs aren’t pointless if we’re still keeping them around. While you may not need to be walked through all the different car options and features at a dealer, a lot of people still do. The dealer network is very useful. For one its the main point for warranty and repair. Go ahead and ask Tesla owners how repairs and warranty work goes. Its not good. Not to mention in the buying process its nice to see a myriad of options in the sheet metal. You wont get that direct to consumer. Plus existing dealers…
