Radwood tax is getting stupid. CP.

Cars are made to be driven. Period. If it’s worth owning, it’s worth driving.

They kept releasing these for years. Eventually the DOS and Macintosh versions came with a halfway passable golf game.

I have been saying since before Iowa that a Sanders/Abrams ticket would crush Dolt 45. Biden/Abrams is an acceptable substitute. Still going to lose the hardcore BernieBros, but I think Stacey Abrams is popular enough and young enough to help Joe actually capture some youths. She’ll be amazing on the campaign trail,

Your job is writing about attempting to work on shitboxes. Not all of us are so lucky. As someone who gets paid to work on other people’s cars, working from home isn’t an option for me. Luckily, I have at least a week’s worth of cars waiting for me at the shop. I also range from 15-30 feet away from my closest

This one. I have been puttering with it for over a decade but finally gave up and sold it late last year.

CP. Used Astons post-1987 are a bad buy already. Add to that the steaming pile that is the Sportshift gearbox, and you get extra nope. Run, do not walk, away from this car.

Used VAG product. CP. Everything else is just icing.

I know I’m doing a brake job on one this week.

My wife has a ‘17 Sport hatch, with the CVT. Does this one still have the “shift paddles” that let the CVT pretend to have gears? Because I have found those things hilarious since day one.

Crack Pipe. Because ugly.

Even Corvettes?

CP.

1. Never buy somebody else’s project.
1a. Especially if it’s not finished.
2. I really want to drive it.

Now playing

MCM has been modding a Yaris lately, and it’s been making me think about picking up a cheap beater to do similar stuff to.

But I’d rather just buy a factory build. Because I am an old, and would rather drive than wrench these days.

Maps, gloves, blankets.

I can’t vouch for this letter. But I used to be a manager in the Sears Auto Centers (I’m old!), and I was driving a beat-to-hell gutted Honda Civic EE2 with MPFI conversion, headers, 2.5" exhaust header-back (straight through, too; I chopped off the rear tie down and came out in the center of the rear bumper), alloy

I’m an ASE Master Tech with access to a fully equipped shop, and I often opt to take my wife’s car to the dealer for service. And it’s an hour drive one-way.

But it’s a good dealership, and there are a lot of times I just don’t want to deal with it. So I’ll take a nice drive in the country, bring a book for the waiting

Screens are also less likely to break than mechanically moving gauges...

Kind of sad to see it go. I work on these all the time, and the old L-series V8 is reliable, durable, and powerful enough. The VAG engines are none of these except powerful. But I expect most of the V8 cars I work on will still be running when the current VAG cars are crushed junk.

Introduced in 1995. One of the best engines of the last millennium, but not the last decade.
