Oh HELL no. Run.

Here you go! This is my Lucy:

Context is everything. She wasn’t his patient - IIRC he was the only emergency doctor who was available when she suddenly had a miscarriage in her hotel room, on the opposite side of the planet from her home medical care.

I stumbled across “Thanksgiving in Mongolia” in the New Yorker while I was pregnant. It devastated me. I’ve re-read it a few times since then (although not in a while) & it leaves me sobbing every time. The intensity of the loss & grief she describes seems like more than anyone could be expected to survive. I’m so

Oh god, I am so so sorry. Hugs & prayers from an internet stranger.

I have a mixed-breed one of those. At 6 y.o. I call her perma-puppy.

I am so sorry you’re going through this. Let yourself have all of the emotions you need to have - sometimes just admitting that you don’t have it remotely together will allow you to function a little bit better, even if it’s just part of the time. Also, my dog sends internet cuddles.

Can this be the new “Keep Calm & Carry On”?

Before the giant fuck-up, I was very confused by the somewhat fawning feature on these 2 in the NYT. Aren’t they supposed to be anonymous suits with the briefcases, rather than “social media participants in all the glitz & glamour”? It feels to me like this shit was just waiting to happen.

I had never seen that, and my life is now better for it. Thanks!

Oh hai there! We look like cousins!

He made a resort out of it once he realized he couldn’t afford the upkeep otherwise, IIRC.

I lived in Europe (Italy) for 4 years when a work opportunity came up. It was fabulous. Go have an adventure!

I’m so sorry. My dad went through that, too, and the number of products he acquired was a little overwhelming. A bunch of the stuff he had: Aveeno Skin Relief lotion, Systane Balance eye drops, CVS brand theraputic dandruff shampoo (I’m not sure if he used this before or during hair loss?), hydrocortisone cream, OTC

Stila has a lovely poppy-ish color, if you’re not afraid of a cream blush? It’s called Convertible Color, in “Petunia”. In the package it’s bright AF, but used sparingly I think it’s quite pretty.

What a great idea - these are SO cool! Anyone who’s willing, please post a link to your Etsy shop/whereever else you sell your things? Even when I can’t buy ($ is tight right now) I so enjoy having pretty things to look at. Especially these days.

Baby will spend plenty of time in the couple of swaddles you brought home from the hospital. Don’t sweat it. And congrats!

DO IT.

That was fun! I signed mine Jane Q. Citizen, email “dontcontactme@fuckyou.com”, zip code 20500 - same as the White House. Wheee!

Also he didn’t write that book, and his ghost writer has since said the book should’ve been called “The Sociopath”.
