Still, your phrasing indicates the movie was, in fact, cinema.

I saw it recently and quite liked it. Different strokes but I gotta take umbrage with describing Daniel Day Draaaaaaiiiiiinaaaaage Lewis’s restrained performance in that movie as melodramatic.

I gotta see it again. Apparently there was talk of a sequel 10-20 years ago, which I guess would have cleared things up. If making a sequel to Taxi Driver wasn’t a horrible idea that is.

See, I always read that ending as Bickle’s delusion. Like he’s finally let go of reality entirely and we’re just sort of floating in the ether of how he’d like his life to be. Haven’t seen it in a while though.

Oh I dunno, I’m a pro-competition, pro-regulation, pro-safety net hybrid type so I wouldn’t paint socialism with that broad a brush.

Bringing Out the Dead that low?  Don’t make me take off my sunglasses!

Thanks Bam. Because of this comment, I’ve decided to run for President as a Republican. You DO matter.

Excuse me, I come to this site for escapism mixed with fundamentally despair-fueled snark, not heartwarming tributes and emotional reality. Please note my complaint.

Goddamfuckit I would have been extremely on board with more F13 stuff and anything having to do with Christine. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT NEGATIVE IMPACT OF SEXUAL HARASSMENT LITERALLY EVER.

I don’t like country music, but I don’t mean to denigrate those who do. And for the people who like country music, denigrate means ‘put down’.” - Bob Newhart

Good is dumb.

Anyone else process the news that a Barney movie is going to exist the same way you process a slasher-type jumping back to life at the end of a horror movie? I just, you know, I thought we were done.

Too bad, but I have generally enjoyed this season more than the second given better character development.  And we get that regardless of the mystery, so an overall win?

Kind of hope is he dies soon. Not in a vengeful sort of way. It’s just that there’s nothing about the situation that is anything but horrible and he’s just an old guy whose life means Serial Rapist taking up space.  Sounds kind of unhinged of me but, like, the world would be just a tiny bit better off.

Moonlighting is a television show that once existed!

Reminds me of the classic Sinatra profile where it’s pointed out that if the singer gets a cold it sends reverberations throughout the entertainment industry and therefore the entire economy.  Seems inherently kind of fucked up.

Dammit, why didn’t they spend their late career doing stuff like this instead of chasing synths and Biz Markie samples all over the place trying to stay relevant?  This is what they’re good at.  This is what still-talented old dudes should be playing.
