I fully understand your point, and I'm not saying that I'd personally want to daily a Lotus, but there are a lot of cars that suffer identical problems as the Elise/Exige.

Well, it is a carbon fiber monocoque, so I'd say the Elise is as safe as any other car designed like that. Ferraris and Lamborghinis included.
