they are gonna have a hard time making a sequel to that by taking out the whole “full metal bitch” story line. Theres no material left for them to go off of. No way they can think up a good one on their own.

“If this weren’t the case Jack would never get knocked out during the major battle.”
Agreed. I am not arguing for white-washing by any stretch. ScarJo shouldn't be anywhere near Ghost in the Shell.
My personal feeling is that it’s a lot less racist, too, especially if there’s more to the character than “Asian and knows martial arts” (hello, Dark Matter). But I don’t know if there’s any way to objectively measure that or predict future criticism. I mean, trying to determine what’s “more racist” seems like a crazy…
Wha? That doesn’t avoid the racist trope at all.
An Asian dude learning martial arts is definitely the lesser of two evils here. That he doesn’t know martial arts when he starts out makes the story way more credible in that regard.
Cut/paste:
I know, right? White people deserve to see some positive portrayals of themselves after all these years! How are they supposed to help it if they’re the best at everything? Who doesn’t want to see a white guy master an Asian tradition and then use it to beat up a bunch of Asians?
There are literally dozens of characters in the MU whose ethnicity matters from Elektra to Magneto to The Black Panther the latest Ms. Marvel, so you’re pretty much wrong immediately, so it’s hysterical you’re trying to paint others as being clueless.
So what if it is? You know Marvel is a money-making operation, right? They don’t exist with the sole purpose of being nice to you. If they can expand their financial footprint by making a slight alteration to a single character they will. If that aligns with a large underrepresented group getting a superhero who…
Maybe it’s like Cadbury, and the eggs are only available for a limited time.
Both the Marvel nerd and Shakespeare nerd in me approve this comment.
“Alas, poor Essex! I knew him, Magneto, a fellow of infinite
sinistre, of most demented intelligence. He hath bore countless Marauders a thousand times, and now how pleasing in my imagination it is! My desire rises at it.”
Really? I’ve never heard anyone say the Queen is a divisive thing amongst fans until now.
why cater to one stereotype? go for them all
Yeah, taking on the appearance of the host was introduced in 3.I’ve never heard anybody disliking the queen. The queen was responsible for the most iconic scene from the franchise, “Get away from her you bitch!”
Yorick was weak! Only the strong survive!
yap, Marvel is all warm, fun and fuzzy and DC is darhk, cold and gray
Alien: Covenant - The egg to the big boy? No queen? I know the queen comes from Cameron and not Scott but ignoring her is lame.
