I’ve never really understood why Bette Davis Eyes was this world toppling BIGGEST song, selling more than the Lionel Richie ballads at #2 and 3. (Full disclosure I was one and not old enough to remember). It’s not a bad song by any means, and Kim Carnes has a nice Rod Stewart rasp.

With 3 anomalous 1 year exceptions, the last time this team was good was 1992.  I was in the seventh grade and........now I’m nearly 40.  The only reason little lord Fauntleroy has been able to milk so much out of this fan base for so long was its 70’s and 80’s legacy.  Entire generations now only know of this team as…

I think for me it’s also their willingness specifically to deal with very adult themes and emotions while ostensibly still made for children.

The thing that always drives me mad when those on the right rehash 90’s Clinton conspiracy theories.

I think any brilliant artist exhausts their initial bag of tricks in a decade or so. Every album after that, while by no means world changing, can still be fascinating if you’re a fan of their song craft.
