Then tell me, as the “average” consumer, a term that you feel fully describes the technology at question that will be accurate to a consumer?

Teslas record autopilot data and upload it at regular intervals. This information records the expectations of EAP and reality of the driver’s control inputs. The differences are the training set. It’s how you program a machine learning system and Tesla has BILLIONS of miles in real world data. Waymo does level 4/5,…
Because I have both a Tesla and Private Pilot certificate (ASEL). And I have actually used autopilot on a small plane. I can tell you that the expectation of autopilot in my Tesla is pretty close the autopilot in a Piper Cherokee. It maintains a heading and keeps the wings level. It doesn’t take off, land or prevent…
As I said earlier, Level 3+ should be achievable with the V3.0 hardware. This would the the ability to drive autonomously with a driver and safely transfer control in unfamiliar conditions. i.e. Construction, accident, etc. The V3 car possesses the the technology for what they trying to do and they have a training set…
I disagree. While he has made some wild statements, he’s backed up some of the key ones. The model S/X/3 are significant achievements (Don’t forget about SpaceX) He’s not constrained by politics and BS, he’s a problem solver. Clearly, he’s not tactful, but that’s not what technological advancement requires.
Level 4,5, I agree. Level 3+ is achievable with current technology. Which is why I put it in quotes. I think most people are ok with a car that drives itself except in the instance of road construction and accidents, as long as the car transfers control predictably.
As a Tesla owner and fan, it’s a good question. Musk has made a lot of promises that need to start being cashed in. SpaceX is one thing, but in consumer space, your are going to be held to your word eventually. This year will be the year for “full self driving” or bust.
I’ve had one for over 21 years and the only repair I’ve had (Until this year) was the clutch hose and a bad spark plug. Built like a tank.
Granted I am a little biased.
