Yeah, I almost went off on a friend-of-a-friend comment that called her reaction “psychotic” because she was so calm. Of course, I’m 99% sure if she had been hysterical, they would have seen this as evidence that the officer was right to feel threatened.

It doesn’t matter what she would have done. If she had been hysterical they would have said she was putting on a show for the cameras.

When you’ve got a preconceived notion of how something is supposed to play out, suddenly everything looks ‘fishy’.

I’ve seen some people on my FB news feed (those that I affectionately refer to as “the asshole contingent” of my family, mostly) questioning how calm she remained throughout the video, and how matter-of-fact her narration was. The upshot seemed to be that there was something fishy about it.

Ugh, I remember this story and how furious I was about it. I’m ashamed to say I had forgotten about it. I am very glad to get an update that there were at least some consequences. But they aren’t nearly enough.

Perhaps “this week” supports your opinion. I think history supports mine. Whichever it may be, you are right, poor training played a huge role in these murders. However, I don’t believe that bias played no role in the outcome. Police who believe “black people are dangerous and scary” are racist and biased whether…

I don’t think we know that the shooters were black people. The one suspect whose picture was posted was found to be not involved.

And then when we point out the hypocrisy we’re accused of “celebrating the death of police.” NO. We just want our lives to be that important! That’s the whole point of BLM!
