Lotus is a niche manufacturer and has been a owned be other manufacturers for a long time (including GM). It is an awful comparison to make because Tesla has no desire to be a niche brand. Tesla as a company may not succeed and end up being gobbled up by it’s larger competitors.

Umm I'll try today but it will fail. Tesla isn't a large scale automaker yet and it's probably as likely that Tesla ends up a division of gm as anything else.
