I see Delpo coming out of this half, if he plays like he did last week. Top half seems a little more open, although Fed would definitely be the favorite.

I, for one, absolutely wish that Kobe had been thrown in prison. We’re not talking a drug crime or property crime; we’re talking about rape. Sure, I hope he’s reformed, but rapists deserve prison, regardless of the color of their skin.
The author is a Deadspin writer, who writes a lot of excellent articles regarding abuse and cover-ups in the world of sports. Basically, Kobe is in her wheelhouse; Gary, not so much. Should she not write the article unless and until she investigates every single person at the Oscars for bad behavior?
Ah yes. The affirmative action NBA dog whistle... Classy.
Yes!! That was my first thought. 2nd was to wonder what this trade says about the Lakers’ confidence in Lonzo. Say what you want about IT, but he ain’t gonna take shit from Daddy Ball... Gonna need some popcorn for that!
Forget changing the name. Change the mascot. To a sack of potatoes. Problem solved.
Late to this party, but totally agree. It’s basically a large-scale prisoner’s dilemma. I’ve often thought the practice should be banned as anti-competitive—it greatly undermines a small business’s ability to compete, and creates a net loss to society.
Thank you for the info! It adds a good deal of perspective to the decision. Sounds like the dad is the stereotypical bad sports parent, who was using golf to drive a wedge between the girl and her mom.
I mean, it is an “individual sport,” so....cheer for me because I’m an American, but fuck all my fellow American players. But I love all you veterans and I’m a New Yorker, so love me!!!!!! Fake & thirsty.
Disappointed that Venus lost—I would really love for her to get one more Grand Slam—but good god. Venus didn’t lose that game; Sloane flat out won it. I couldn’t believe the balls she chased down.
Add me to the list of people who are glad you are around writing these informative articles! I am a HUGE tennis fan, but none of my friends are...they might casually watch Venus or Serena, but that’s about the extent of it. I’ve scoured my FB feed to see if there is maybe one lurking about, but NO. So it is very much…
Or, ya know, the semi-final.
Yep. Another point that pissed me off about ESPN. Save the post game injury whining for Novak, John McEnroe. Fed hasn’t looked 100% all tournament; don’t cheapen Del Potro’s victory, especially since he was still obviously sick.
The bias is so frustrating!! I mean, I get that Roger is the goat, but there are a lot of us Delpo fans out there! The way ESPN was so blatantly for Roger, and treated Del Potro like some nobody was just disrespectful and unprofessional. I just wanted to scream at my TV. Stop pushing your Fedal narrative!! Listen…
If it makes you feel any better, ESPN made the same decision... after the 4th set. I think they finally cut back, but I had to switch over to ESPN 3. DUMB. And then they followed that up with their inane banter about a Fed-Nadal matchup, assuming everyone wants Delpo to lose. Um, guys? Do you not have eyes and ears?
+1 2 oh my god
This article is very brief, but more detailed reports from the news station say that they tried to work through the school for months. The school basically ignored them. So they went public as a last resort, and only then got a response. Within hours. How bout you focus your contempt on the perpetrators, not the…
Realizing I may be, and perhaps should be, crucified for this line of thought... But being from Kentucky, I kind of get what WaPo could be saying?
Yeah, it just opens the door to inconsistency and bias, and the potential for even more controversy down the road. Nip it in the bud.
I think this is something that the ATP and WTA need to explicitly address when doling out punishments. There is just too much gray area here, and, given the controversy around every decision this year, it obviously needs clarification.
