This is....jaw-dropping. Can you just IMAGINE if someone from the Obama administration had given an interview like this? Too bad the Venn diagram of Fox News watchers and New Yorker readers looks like a breast enhancement gone wrong, because this is GOLD.

It was disappointingly mediocre in it’s badness. I expected better, in this case meaning much, much worse, from Deadspin.

This is my hope, too. I’m currently watching The Handmaid’s Tale and it is so incredibly difficult to watch, but at the same time, I feel like it’s so important. Yes, there are some dystopian elements, but the majority of what happens has been or is being done to women around the world. Seeing it done to modern women

Yes, he play is often... Kind of lazy? lackadaisical? Definitely can be frustrating to watch. But when he took that potty break before the fifth set, the first thought in my admittedly suspicious mind was, is he calling his bookie? Really just purely conjecture on my part. Plus his name just makes it so easy to crack

Beats me. But there’s only one way to find out. And the Constitution itself acknowledges the importance of representation, albeit more about population size and location. I doubt it could make things worse, at any rate.

Feel free to refer to this as the Jack-Off match.

Anybody wanna bet on which of the main draw matches was fixed? My money is on the Jack Sock/Offner match. It seemed off when I watched it.

And to the point of strict adherence to the Constitution: it is possible, and maybe probable that women and minorities would be less inclined to do so. The belief in its infallibility is a privilege of those for whom and by whom it was written. As a woman, my gender was intentionally excluded from the writing, and

Then I think perhaps that we are both coming from different points. My point is that if the only concern was adherence to the Constitution when officials are elected, then there would be more proportionate representation. That point would hold, I believe, for any philosophical criteria. By your asking, “does it

If it truly “didn’t matter,” then this article and group would be moot, because women would already be proportionately represented. That women and minorities are so underrepresented shows that yes, apparently something besides adherence to the Constitution DOES matter.

I wonder about this... As a woman, and one who wouldn’t be considered particularly feminine, I wonder how much of that is because a woman has to have traditionally masculine traits to succeed? Which really is just another manifestation of sexism, whereby feminine traits are seen as weak and undesirable.

I mentioned it in reply to another comment, but the thing that really sets it apart to me is that a tennis player has to do it completely alone. No coaching, no pep talks, no one to help strategize.

I agree! I think that Grand Slam tennis is far more mentally grueling. At least with golf, you have a caddy to rely on, and to help you. With tennis, at least in the slams, there is no one. No coaching, no human interaction, it depends completely on the individual mental fortitude of the player.

Great article... But I actually have had the opposite experience. I HATED Roger for YEARS. mostly because he beat Pete Sampras at Wimbledon, and then in total Slams. I can be a bit irrational with my sports loyalty.

I had the same thought... You could maaaaaaybe make a case that they are treating her like some “sweet old grandma,” but mostly I think they’re just showing respect to a beloved veteran. What benefit is there to badgering her for playing like shit in the second set? She knows it, we know it, it won’t change the

My exact thoughts. Big difference between saying questionable shit, and beating the shit out of women. Plus, I think a lot of this “racism” is just low-brow trash talk, and probably more about theatrics and projecting a persona. Offensive, yeah, but these are dudes that beat the crap out of other dudes for a living.

She looked so good! Fingers crossed that she wins it all, which if she plays like today should be a breeze. It’s so interesting to watch her and Fed... When they’re on, they play with a calm and precision that just shuts all the young whippersnappers down. Love it!

Instead of having his toaster, he’s toasted.

Ugh. Accidentally hit publish. Meant to say maybe not directly, but just that between Pitino, Petrino, Ramsey, etc., the overall cloud of mismanagement, dishonesty, and scandal that surrounds the school could subconsciously impact the committee.

Yep. Plus, what other way is there to punish the players and staff that actually were responsible for the wrong-doing, rather than current players? I think this punishment does its best to take away the rewards directly related to past behaviors.
