Here’s where I got the 41% of millennials voted for Trump (to be clear, HRC won the millennial vote). Voting percentages are always of the number of that demographic who voted, not percentage that exist.

Voting statistics are always % of people who actually voted, not people of that demographic overall. So 98% of black women who voted, voted for Jones. 96% of black people that voted -voted for Jones.  

It is hard to overstate how much harder it is to retain voter rights for people of color than it is for white people. No one is making it harder for white folks to vote, plenty of racists are working overtime to deny voting rights to POC, and even pretending that POC are all, somehow, “illegals”.

Women are more likely to vote than men, across all demographic groups. There was an interesting breakdown on Vox, showing that the biggest predicator of Trump voters was ...duh, racism.

Sometimes it can be terribly hard to not drop back into family roles. The role of family fuck up/black sheep is particularly alluring because in the system you are getting love for your dysfunction, which takes the heat off other family members dysfunction. YMMV, of course. All the love to you.

This, the acknowledgement that people will claim that how they would have behaved in a situation involving coercion seldom jibes with what they do. It’s something that people do to distance themselves from both harm and blame, and judge a stranger that has been harmed while feeling good about themselves.
