I think Ellen and Portia have a much tinier circle of trusted people than they portray. 

I actually find this very interesting with Ellen - someone remarked once that she seems more sarcastic and witty with children and I was like ... of course she does. Everyone been knew she was more talented than she let on in that episode of Punk’d where Dax played her hillbilly cousin who wanted to live in a trailer in their driveway and not once did her facade slip. 

I love your take on her husband. Looking back on all the guys she used to date, it does appear that many of them either liked her solely for her looks, status, or just for the arm candy. I think her and Nick obviously loved each other, but they got together too young and he was unhappy that he wasn’t the star anymore.
