Yeah as much shit as California drivers get, you have to be pretty skilled to go eighty on narrow freeway lanes with not one inch of median in either side and cars twenty feet apart.

The United States... are you ill? An article about the USN and the fact that United States citizens are commonly known through out the world as Americans... is this some type of semantic nonsense that Canadians and Mexicans are American too?

They aren’t invulnerable but it will take a massive amount of money, luck, and effort to take out... which leaves the other side looking at an angry American public, we have a history of massive retaliation.

Less than a month after 9/11 the United States Navy sent a swarm ashore. The F/A-18A/C had entered service in 1984 and had proven itself in the first gulf war. This time it was personal, no holds barred, and no quarter given. The USN had three carrier groups actively supporting Operation Enduring Freedom, the umbrella

True and submarines are by far the most dangerous threat a carrier faces... six to eight torpedos might actually sink one.

Subs aren’t keepin up with a carrier at speed, the ships don’t go straight they are constantly turning and doubling back. The carrier CAP will take out the air recon planes or the guided missile destroyers Aegis systems will. A carrier is a tiny object in a vast sea. It also has jamming abilities and point defense

Even without a nuclear response if you sink the Washington, Reagan, Kennedy, etc... Americans are going to seek massive vengeance, they better be in for a total war.

We build carriers every four to five years as they last fifty years and thus we always have enough... it wouldn’t make sense to have three all the same age.

They move quite fast, satellites are shit for constant target tracking as they don’t stay overhead, unless geostationary... which are too distant to provide the necessary resolution. Carriers are turning at forty miles per hour.

In these training ops versus foreign nations we don’t use all of our abilities and we also set up the situation to give the attacker an advantage, not saying there aren’t weak spots but the point of the exercise is to learn.

Sinking a carrier is suicide for the attacker, even if not nuclear the response would be similar to Pearl Harbor or 9/11... Americans don’t ever say hey you got us so good we’re going to quit.

One conventional missile is not going to sink a carrier, mission kill maybe.

The number of Americans killed if a carrier was sunk would cause the United States to unleash the full power of our nations fury in response. Sinking a carrier, especially one named for a president, is the stupidest thing a nation could do... it’s like Pearl Harbor, if you hit us that hard well just get angry and

I’m starting to think this one may reveal an actual truth... by far most commented on.
