That number is total BS the current estimate to buy 2,500 F-35 and operate them till 2070 is just under one trillion. Not to mention the tens of thousand of jobs over that period.

The Aim-9x Block II is likely better or equal to iris-t and the Aim-120D is close enough to meteor to work fine. The navy will look at meteor but aim-120Ds additional range negates many of meteors advantages. That said if meteor is judged, when operational on the 35, to be better than I would be for switching.
