Coolest looking plane that was a total failure though it did lead to the f-104

Lemay is appropriately racist for what we use these for...

B-3 leads to b-4 though. It's a good number to get support from congress which is the most important thing.

Are Russians white? Whenever I think of Russia I think of a shades of grey... Not many colors over there.

The 16 they have will likely all crash by the time this is ready.

Jack Black... Maybe

Deathcat

The f-23 would have been demonized for not being a dogfighter. Its at best an interceptor though it would make a good strike fighter as well.

B-21...

The British always name their planes, the didn't have an f-4 they had a Phnatom.

I imagine that bomb fits nice and snug in the 21.

B-21 will have only two engines they will be f135 or derivative with no afterburners. This gives about 56,000 pounds of thrust vs 68,000 for b-2. It will carry up to a 40,000 bomb load in a single long bay. More to come...

Well previous start treaties, via Reagan and bush, did work well. At the time new start was written it seemed to follow along on those first steps. I agree that with 20/20 hindsight it is unlikely to stay in force but we didn't know that then.

X-47b x2, Boeing phantom Ray x2, rq-170, euro taranis, and maybe the rq-180 all have settled on similar shapes. If you can do without agility a no tail flying wing type design is clearly the way to go.

F-16i, f-16e block 60, and the 35 carrying the same weapons load.

See my other response but the b-1s external hard points were welded over in the eighties, in fact it was never even tested at 125,000 pounds nor did it ever carry any external weapons in service. So it’s not 125,000 pounds in real life because when it entered service the external carry was deleted, because of treaty

If we take the 35a/b/c program as a whole the average flyaway price will be 100 million and average weight will be 30,000 pounds which equals 3,300 dollars per pound in 2015 money. This is the best estimate for 2015 stealth planes per pound.

Surprisingly yes there is, in fact we had to get permission from Russia to allow the b-1 to carry a targeting pod on an external pylon, a targeting pod mind you not a weapon. The b-1 is not allowed to use any external weapons at all and in fact the bone had its external hard points WELDED over while the soviets

As a grateful dead fan I would like the name Dark Star. Spooky, scary, hidden, and unknowable would be cool, but that was used by Lockheed for a prototype stealth uav.
