I think you can buy some nice 6 mil plastic at Home Depot for fairly cheap. You would at least be able to see shadows through it. But in the interest of humor, I’m glad they did this instead.

I haven’t watched the video, but my wife told me about it earlier this week. She was chuckling a little, but my first thought was the dad sounded like a major asshole. It’s one thing to play a prank on your kids; it’s another thing to embarrass your kids on the internet for everyone to see.

If you don’t like Tom’s suggestion, I think Patrick had the next best choice. Or a C4 Corvette if you need a touch more class.

I think this thing was going to get street raced no matter what, mostly because people are dumb. However, the choice to say that it was “banned by the NHRA” is an odd one.

I completely get the whole take it with a grain of salt. I saw the guy’s IG and he has a ton of followers, so maybe he’s connected. But random IG guy I don’t know isn’t usually where I get my information. However, it is hard to keep a secret, so watch him be completely 100% correct.

I don’t fault you for missing it, but there was an article mentioning these exact rumors yesterday. And there’s also a link to said article embedded in this article.

Like you said, it’s all personal preference. If you don’t like doing it, much better to pay someone a reasonable rate rather than force yourself to do something you do not enjoy.

Personally, I like keeping something I use on an everyday basis as clean as possible. I understand your cost benefit analysis, but that assumes you could actually be making money instead of washing your car. And if you are driven enough, you certainly could be. I clean mine in my free time, when it’s either do

I understand your sentiment, but this would seem more appropriate for SUVs and minivans, yes? Also, seeing out the back window is kind of important.

I would pretty much agree with this. My Mazda 6 is currently the perfect size for my life right now. There’s room for two car seats in the back without them constantly kicking my seat and the trunk is roomy enough to put all my hockey goalie gear in. If the sports car segment isn’t completely dead by the time I’m done

Let me get right on that.

I feel like you’re confusing “they miss their cars” with “they regret doing the buyback”. They can know they made the right decision to sell the car back to VW and still miss it. The two are not mutually exclusive.

In a way, you’re right. I am over Apple dropping the headphone jack. After two iPhones, I bought a Google Pixel instead.

He takes his Prius hunting? Hunting for what?

Thanks for the live blog, Stef. I’m an east coaster who didn’t set my DVR. I can’t find a re-air on the schedule anywhere. Your blog was a perfect substitute. I read it as I made muted V6 turbo sounds in my head.

This balance sheet seems to have a few differences from mine.

There are a lot of replies, so forgive me if it has already been mentioned, but the engine coolant drain in a second gen RX-7 13B is inside the bracket for the engine mounts.

A clean first gen with fairly low miles for its age? Sign me up, this is NP all day long. Odds are, you can get this car to run again for fairly cheap. Even if it somehow did need a rebuild, I’d still be happy with my purchase.

If anyone listens to CarCast with Adam Carolla, he occasionally goes on a five minute rant that describes every car show on TV. Wheeler Dealers will now probably be one of those shows.

JB Weld was used to fix the outlet hose from the turbo on my RX-7. It held for years. It’s probably still holding, but the car has been parked for um, a few years while undergoing restoration.
