Exactly, if you choose to use the hospital (offer) the hospital agrees to render services (acceptance) and you pay the deductibles or sign off that you or your will pay for service rendered (consideration) creates a contract. If the hospital bills the infant that does not negate the fact the parents owe the money.

No, an infant cannot. But, since services thatwere agreed to rendered, the parents are still liable. Most good insurances will pay those fees if the invoice is submitted to their insurance company.

I think that is a feature and not a glitch in the system. The bill is sent out to the child and not the parents and the parent’s either pay it or ignore it. If it is ignored, the hospital sells the bill to a debt collector and then bills and sues the parents.

Sadly, that program has been in beta in the black communities for centuries so they know it works.
