Looks like a playset for those Galactic Heroes figures (the two-packs of cartoony plastic figures for kids). :)

@jacksprat1990: Agreed about the old man part. Solid Snake is the greatest character to come out of the franchise, yet we got to play as him very few times.
@dreamparacite: Agreed, MGS4 had some great gameplay but the story and cutscenes were too much. MGS3 is still my favorite.
I thought MGS4 was supposed to be the ULTIMATE MASTERPIECE
I won't be buying an Activision game again.
I always liked the realism of the old Street Fighter, so this over-the-top character doesn't particularly appeal to me. But SF wouldn't be the same without unrealistic moves like fireballs and spinning piledrivers, so I guess there's also a place for oily Turks literally sliding around on the ground.
@WilliamTheFifth: I tried it both ways, and did not enjoy the mission either way.
You want an 8-bit reference? How about "I AM ERROR" on the dashboard when the accelerator gets stuck. :)
I have a one-year-old boy now and it makes me think a little before playing MW2 or MGS. My games are in the basement now but someday my son will wonder what I'm playing. I may swear off them at that point, I'm not sure yet.
@battra92: I didn't take it to mean that at all, I just think the VG experience is more heartfelt when you can't just have your parents drop cash and buy you whatever you want. I understand why that first day with the NES was so fun for you, since it was the same for me.
@misc.insanity: Every movie needs more roller skates.
No picture, but my first system was a crappy Atari 2600 my aunt pulled out of the dump and gave as a gift. (We come from the boonies.) The connector to the TV was broken so we had to insert the connector in the console and push it down to get it to work.
@battra92: Thanks for sharing this. I'm posting a short story (no photo) that's similar since my family was also poor.
It's like MGS2, the bomb-defusing mission. But I thought that was somewhat boring. :(
Beautiful, and I don't even play D&D. Maybe I could play the original Final Fantasy in there.
I commented about this on another post...the military always gets technology way early. Eldridge is playing Xbox 360 because he left his PS4 at home. Didn't want to get sand in it.
@BuriedTalents: Hmm, I went into the reset menu a 2nd time, exited without selecting anything and then the TV worked fine. Not sure why but something must have reset. :)
@BuriedTalents: Weird, I just reset it again and this time got a menu of six options (rebuild database, reset system, that sort of thing). So the picture does come through. But I opted to reset the system and when it rebooted the picture problem remained.
@Regulus: D'oh, thanks for correcting me. It's been too long since I played it, I guess. I will have to borrow the old SNES back from my brother, it's currently on duty in his dorm room. Still a great game. :)
@carlmarssilias_returns: Story is definitely better, though gameplay now feels pretty dated. My favorite MGS is still MGS3, story and gameplay were both awesome!
