The only reason why Manchin is able to be elected in WV is because of his family name. If a Democrat had the same exact policy beliefs as Manchin they would not have a chance to win a state wide election. Even their governor had to switch to be a Republican. 

Manchin knows that if he prevents Biden from achieving his goals the Senate will flip to GOP control in 2022 or 2024 — and that is the feature and not the bug in what he is doing.

Same here. Off topic, but as an elder millennial — I’m 36 — growing up I had more in common with late stage gen-xers than I do with late stage millennials. That is probably why we were allowed to stay at home by ourselves unlike younger members of our cohort.

I believe that income taxes at one point used to be public record — it was a way to force people to pay their taxes because they could be shamed by their neighbors etc if they didn’t pay their fair share. That used to mean something. 

And the state of New York because they have his state taxes.
