Cheats need to be installed to the OS, there’s no way to install a cheat directly to the game disc.

It’s incredibly difficult to create cheats for console, and then you lose your paid subscription.

Sure, but like... The DLC is free. It’s really fucking entitled to be “disappointed” by the fact that something a company is giving you for free is not exactly the thing you wanted it to.

Like this is far from the first news regarding Sony’s lack of console cross-play this generation and one user I replied to in this very thread thinks that the article is “re-writing history” by claiming Sony is against cross-play simply…

Sony gains more public positivity (which equals more possible sales on this or future content) for claiming they’re working with developers to support crossplay.

There is a much larger thread suggesting this above but you can’t just ask for forgiveness after nor would the public spectacle benefit the publisher/developer that does this. Their game would be removed from PSN (the platform with the largest install base) and, yeah as you noted, they’d likely end up also being fined…

Odd that the conversation is about Sony refusing. Are we rewriting history or is this disgruntled developers/publishers looking to point a finger or get attention in the press when they are fighting for the spotlight with other multiplayer games that are blowing up (like Apex)?

To be fair, when it comes through the PS4 system messenger - that’s 100% on Sony to handle. They just don’t have that type of support for enforcement.

Yes, the chairman saying what he thinks/believes and advising people to talk to their Sony Rep. They won’t lose any face over this that they already haven’t lost regarding this topic as he’s not actually saying “Guys, I’m positive - every game can do it! Just let us know and we’ll make it happen.”

Minecraft on the PS4 is already the in-superior version of the game. Sony doesn’t care. If Microsoft said they were going to pull it if Sony didn’t allow cross-play, Sony would tell them to go ahead and pull it.

Sony is not saying it’s okay to “flip the switch”. They’re specifically saying that people should contact their PlayStation account managers to work through it. If Hi Rez just flipped the switch, Sony could pull the game from the store for not following procedure and going around them.

They aren’t publicly saying “go ahead and do it yourself”, they’re saying to “contact your PlayStation account manager”. They’d be appropriately punishing them for not going through the proper channels so it wouldn’t really be any worse PR for them then they’ve already had regarding this subject.
