I’ve read this a couple of times now and I’m just trying to get clear on something. Is this piece criticizing the victim of a hate crime for not wanting to press charges?

This is increasingly common. The university I work at has made several public announcements regarding spray painted swastikas on walls in/around dorms and white nationalism flyers have been found in various campus buildings.

It’s Arizona. Your thought is correct, but it would require the state itself to not be racist and actually care about this kid.

I can understand why the student won’t press charges, as plenty of victims of other crimes generally don’t out of fear of reprisal, but the attack was witnessed by enough people or recorded on video for the prosecutors to at least plea them to something right?

not “a hero of 9/11” or “a guy who happened to be in office on 9/11” but *the* hero of 9/11. i’m actually kind of impressed that even in the midst of an acrimonious divorce from this guy she is spouting his own propaganda for him!

This. I got picked on enough.  I can’t imagine how awful it would have been if we had social media back then.  I cringe at the thought.

If it makes you feel any better, Jennifer Aniston’s great skin is 99% down to a.) superior genetics and b.) incredibly expensive and invasive celebrity skincare procedures that normal people cannot access (much less afford).

I am so infinitely glad that  when I was a teenager (a) social media didn’t exist and (b) I wasn’t famous enough for anyone to give a shit what I did.

Can we leave this child alone and not take her down like Jezebel did with Anne Hathaway, Taylor Swift, and all the other woman this website has gone after for no apparent reason.
