I’m a science major at a Catholic liberal arts school. In order for us to be able to work with her cells, we have to have a week of classes dedicated to her life, informed consent, and the medical breakthroughs that happened because of her. At the time it was kind of tedious, but I understand that it was important for

Can you imagine her giving birth? The nurse says “Doctor, her cervix is 9 centimet-” and the patient interrupts to scream “Don’t use your pornographic words around me and my baby! Doctor, my down there is dilated 9 centimeters.”

I’ll just leave this bit of magic here for y’all to enjoy, too.

For once I hope it’s just me, but the skin tone looks off on the doll — a shade or two too light.

YAAAASSSS. I love her. She is enthralling to watch, especially in her Under Armour campaign.

I don’t know anything about this guy’s personal feminism cred, but at least he’s saying these things publicly. He’s young, white, reasonably good looking, presents as cis and straight and is fairly well known. People who dismiss the opinions of women will listen to him when he says exactly the same things. That is, of

He is an actor!!! Do you know how much attention actors need? (So much attention!) I personally appreciate that he is going for attention by being a feminist than doing something obnoxious like getting a dumb tattoo of his ex-girlfriend’s name or punching someone at a nightclub or posting his ridiculous workout

You know, if we keep snarking and tearing down and pushing away people who are allies, WE ARE GOING TO RUN OUT OF THEM.

This is PRECISELY my feeling about him.

People in this very forum are suggesting he’s creepy. Just because he’s too feminist and a little vain. I don’t see the benefit in pushing that men should only be politely, daintily, tastefully feminist. This guys is into it and passionate about it, and wants to show that. If it garners him praise, fine, that’s fine,

My attitude towards receiving the inevitable criticism (and of course I do get some, which is no surprise considering how often I comment) is that I will always take it as an opportunity to look at what I wrote from an outside perspective, and try to frame how it might appear to the person responding negatively to it.

You know, I really like your writing. Have since The Awl. Think you are extremely perceptive and talented and a lot of your pieces offer a lot. But I have noticed this thread recently of pieces policing the boundaries of right-thinking right thinking. The Macklemore beat, sorta. And I do understand the impulse but at

I can’t believe that he’s getting criticism for being too “enthusiastic” an ally. Umm, how dare he?!

So now we are cutting down our allies for being “suspiciously woke”?

It seems to me like he’s just trying to destigmatize male feminism.

Yeah I don’t get it. I mean, I know he talks about feminism a lot, but there are reasons for that.

He does seem really, REALLY enthusiastic.

Exactly. He has every right to feel frustrated or hurt when people slam him for something, he’s human and not a robot and obviously a good person. But he doesn’t use that shit as an excuse not to keep fighting. He takes it and moves on and tries to do better. Which is good.

I think...we all just need to take a little

Good for him. The best part of this is how he listens to people when they have legitimate criticism. That is a real ally.

Jezebel, you need to stop. My boyfriend and I are VERY HAPPY. Stop making me have intense nether feelings for matt mcgorry. I get it, he’s wonderful and woke and perfect and symmetrical and um nvm I’m leaving my bf. YOU HOMEWRECKERS
