I was raised the same way - my parents didn't understand why I didn't just pick something and do it. They didn't have a choice themselves, but found a way to work hard so they could help send me to school, so I understand their urgency in wanting to see me "settled" into a stable career.

I'm sorry about what happened with your family. I do try to help them figure out what it is that they love/how to do it/make a living from that - from day one of college. It's hard, though, since everyone these days is all about STEM (including most of the students I work with), and here I am in a liberal arts

...if you find something that you're interested in and you work hard towards doing that and work hard at doing that, you will end up somewhere in life that you are happy with.

Yep, I had a college roommate who worked there, and one of her tasks was to spray their perfume on the clothes. That's why it smells so strongly of "fragrance" even if you're just walking by.

Other terrible reactions to Jason Collins here, but also the best reactions here. It was great to see people at the top like the president and the owner of the Washington Wizards release supportive statements right away.

This reminded me of this poem, aptly titled "Handshakes." It's about handshakes. And gender.

Ohhh, yes I could see Rachel McAdams in that role, if she can sing? Not sure. I saw Jane Krakowski as Adelaide in London years and years ago, and she was awesome.

Thank you! Not to mention he also threw rocks and yelled racial epithets at a group of black kids not long before he blinded the Vietnamese man. Mark Wahlberg makes me really angry. So does Chris Brown. I don't need to rank which one is worse to know that they're both terrible.

Some great ideas from others already. Perhaps consider womanism as a possible topic? Also, wanted to share a post about the word "lame" and ableist language. Just food for thought.

I noticed that the characters who are not described with racial features were assumed to be white, but I definitely remember some characters being described as people of color in the books. Cho Chang's name signified her as being Asian, of course. I also feel like Lee Jordan and a Slytherin named Blaise were given

Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but she also posted a response to critiques of her poem here:

Ahh! Salmon skin roll.

There's a documentary that was just released about this type of stuff, covering men with Asian fetishes: Seeking Asian Female

Anyone remember The Ghosts of Departure Point? The cover had the teen ghosts standing by a cliff in their cheerleader outfits.

The second one might be Stranger With My Face. I think they were twin sisters who could astral project and one of them was evil.

Edited: Never mind, repetitive.

Yeah, you're right, that is contrary. I guess I still find it interesting how this all blew up into a huge problem for VS, and read this more as a commentary on how many people were outraged by this. I do see your point that certain parts of Jenna's essay do contradict the types of articles Jezebel has written in the
