Carole doesn’t breed though (anymore). She takes in cats that would otherwise be killed or left to die by breeders and tries to give them a comfortable place to live out the rest of their days. It is really pretty noble. 

I’ve not seen the show, but I was already fairly familiar with the “cast” in part because of a great article in Nat Geo a few months ago, and in part from having a friend who used to work with big cats. To me honestly it was that fake ass Doc Antle that is the worst.

More than anything, this show has really emboldened the misogynists. They get to make all their “fuck Carole Baskins” jokes and get away with all their memes because people love an insane and proven criminal dude, but will crucify a dodgy woman. I am so over this. 

Yep. This is really annoying because they wanted to present her as an extreme kooky cat woman, when really she is an ardent cat lover and is working to save these animals within the circumstances of their breeding. She’s doing good, but people want to make her equal to Joe. It’s bullshit.

Joe Exotic did pretty much the same things though, just with guys rather than women and with the copious use of drugs to keep them compliant. This whole show is a race to the bottom. .  .

Ex. Fucking. Zactly. Hell, there’s a interview IN THE SHOW where a guy said the husband was trying to pull something big off right before he left. Let alone the complete non-fact Joe Exotic tosses in there that “tiger stomachs can completely digest bones all the way!”

I made this exact comparison to a friend. She’s not a charismatic narcissist like Joe and Doc, and she bred big cats in the beginning of her career, so she isn’t “pure” enough for people. It’s literally Hillary vs Trump in crazy tiger people form.

I have to say that I’m surprised that people’s take away from the show was that Carole was the worst...like maybe she killed her husband? Maybe?  Three dudes conspired to kill her, and then every tiger out here is accused of abusing of killing their animals.  Like what?
