How do you know a breakup or painful thing you’ve been through IS the final nail?

YEAH!

My great grandfather was an Armenian from Musa Dagh, near Hatay, and his betrothed was from Tarsus. He was serving in the Turkish military in 1915. When he found out what was happening, he deserted - he had to - and became a freedom fighter. He snipered away several officers tasked with manning the death marches,

I would not have known about it if my grandfather hadn’t been an Armenian from Turkey, and my great grandparents genocide survivors.

As the granddaughter of an Armenian originally from Musa Dagh in Turkey and born in Greece, and the great-granddaughter of two genocide survivors, I feel the same way. They can try to dismiss it away all they want, but when that many survivors come forward to say what they suffered, and when your own great grandfather

None of them are any good. Not for the front-line workers who are fine, but their corporate policies on how to best treat customers like crap.

The pilots, flight attendants, dispatchers etc. aren't the problem.

Sort of. Geishas for private hire are still around - but only the wealthiest men can afford to hire them. But you can bet that Mr. Toyota, Mr. Honda, the guy who founded Nissan (who is not named Nissan) etc. regularly call upon geishas.

Same here...makes me pale, dizzy, tired and cranky. No BC pills for me. No kind works.

I actually wasn't...I was completely fine and felt quite normal. But I think I'm a bit of an oddball weirdo in that regard.

Oh shit.

The honeymoon was actually great, but this sticks out in my head:

I live in Taiwan and just today I heard a radio commercial that went (in Chinese): “Learn English at ____ School and take classes with beautiful Teacher Emily or clever Teacher Ben!”

FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCKKKKK YYYYYYYOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUU

UUUUUUUUUUU

That’s honestly not how it usually works though. As a teacher working in adult education, my experience is that when every student has the chance to answer without knowing that one person will always dominate/take away their responsibility to contribute, learners do contribute more evenly overall. Knowing “I don’t

There is actually some research out there showing that in language learning, when one student consistently answers faster than others (even if the answers aren’t always correct! Because the effect isn’t about being right), it actually does negatively impact the motivation and participation of the other learners.

Unfortunately not everyone has the luxury of not taking a job that wouldn’t be a good personality fit...if you NEED a job, you will take a job offer at a company whose culture you don’t love.

Also, strategic incompetence. Ask me to make coffee for your meeting once, and you will get such shit-ass coffee that you will never ask me again. Ask me to make your copies and I will make you terrible, grainy, off-kilter, streaky, possibly greasy-fingerprinted copies or maybe decide the toner needs changing and

This hasn’t happened to me recently but when it did I would say something like “I’m sorry*, but I’m quite slammed right now with [task that is much higher-level that is actually my job]. If you can’t do it, perhaps you could ask one of the admin staff? It’s their job to take care of that sort of thing.”

Wow, you sound like a really great person to eat out with. If you were in my dinner party I wouldn't be embarrassed by your ranting or insistence on not paying an added gratuity. I totally wouldn't just quietly leave your share of the tip on the table out of my own pocket out of being ashamed at being associated with

Same here. I would love getting a fun box in the mail every month, but I just don't wear makeup. Like, twice a year I might wear it for necessary events, but day to day I really don't. I no longer have acne and even if I get a spot or two I don't care - men walk around with a pimple showing here or there, why can't I?
