How about this: you reply how you want, and I'll reply how I want and people who agree with me will reply how they want. Dude got a lot of answers. I think he's all set.

This is probably a better starter than the actual first story. I was shocked at what a jerk and a coward the Doctor was in "An Unearthly Child." It was still really great, and it was neat to see how many of the pieces were already in place from the start, but dang. First Doctor was kind of a dick.

When I ask someone about something and want to know if it'll appeal to me, I give people info so they can gauge their response. Such as, "I really like Doctor Who and Lois Bujold — do you think I'd like Stargate?"

There is always a comment like this on something with a strong fandom, and it is deeply irritating because it's always phrased as if the person asking is doing the fans a favor. THIS, my friends, is the Fake Geek you're all so annoyed by and think exists in the form of people doing fandom differently from you. Fake

There is no one source for a new book, and reviewers are under no obligation to select a specific vendor for you (thereby favoring one over the many others available).

What's annoying is that so many people answered you. Why should fans of a 50-year-old SF television institution need to go door-to-door to convince people too lazy to do their own research to watch it? You think it sounds interesting? Then go to any one of the thousands of places online, in magazines, etc., to find

So you think it'll be hard to find with that author name?

That is the CUTEST THING I've seen today.

Hard to believe it's been five years! I was alllll over the site that first many days like a kid in a candy store. It was like birthday and Christmas all rolled into one.

I fail to see what is wrong with her outfit. Oh, wait! That's because there is nothing wrong with her outfit!

Suck it in, Scalzi!

My nickname in college *was* Ford Prefect. True story.

What a bummer. But, if you wait long enough, they'll alllll fall into the public domain one at a time, so perhaps someone will reissue them then for cheap. I was very fortunate growing up to have a friend whose mom had the whole collection and was kind enough to lend them to me to read because nobody had them nor were

My mom once told me, "You always seem to have money for the things you want to do," which was a huge wake-up call for me. I wasn't poor, I was broke and I was broke because I wasn't honest with myself with my money and spent it on stupid stuff. Changed my whole life.

Baum liked to adapt his own stuff so I don't even mind that so much with performance-based attempts (though the Venn diagram of source Oz content and "Tin Man" is *almost* two circles sitting site by side), but you are correct that "Return to Oz" was the adaptation. It really nailed the mood and feel and got so much

Aliens? Dude, that is clearly a falling whale, and if you look closely to its left, you'll see an annoyed bowl of petunias.

When I was a kid I actually preferred Thompson's a bit, so I definitely recommend hers. I think the first two are in the public domain, and Kabumpo was one of my favorite characters of the later books. The other few are interesting and worth reading, especially to see how Neill interpreted the work he'd been
