Cool! We'll all get right on this after we finishing learning Esperanto.

That isn't actually what happened. There was a salary dispute and the show decamped to UPN. It wasn't saved by them from cancellation because the WB never cancelled it.
Some people think a lot of things. I'm talking about pretty much everyone at the same time going "Shit, what the hell?" There just isn't any comparison.
One's personal opinion — or even that of the handy-dandy "some people" — does not equate to a universal visceral reaction.
It's overused and lazy, and using it for every show an individual doesn't like is not the same as everyone actually thinking the same thing simultaneously and water-coolering about it the next day. It just ain't.
Oh, Esther. First off, Buffy never "jumped the shark," and secondly using the phrase "jumped the shark" is lazy and needs to just stop.
Well, then leave me alone with my own reaction to it. I wasn't looking to lead an angry mob.
You are missing the point. I like fan fiction. It has nothing to do with fan fiction. It has to do with exactly what I said: "...not one of these remixes sounds as subversive as Baum's original fourteen really were."
That's the first step.
I said why.
Oh, look. Oz fan fiction. The public domain has much to answer for. For some reason, this kind of infuriates me. Probably because I've read all the original 40 Oz books and not one of these remixes sounds as subversive as Baum's original fourteen really were.
I call that being a fire-starter rather than a troll. A troll just wants to stir the shit and get people mad to no real end but that. A fire-starter wants to get people riled up *about* something, usually, as you say, to see what happens.
Well, I don't know that tens of thousands of people *comment* on any site, but okay.
Or at least Jordan readers who visit fansites do.
Yes, well, I imagine that happens to you a lot.
I look forward to your article on How to Present Constructive Criticism.
Even now? Uh, what? Show is kicking ass and taking names. It has never not been good, but it has been not quite up to its own standards from time to time. Still, to say we're all thinking it's crappy right now is waaay off the mark. I point you to the AV Club, bastion of people who know what the fuck they're talking…
The 14/40 was never meant as an exact number but more a general teens-n-dads assessment of the primary readership of these books. Fantasy in general had a much broader readership (at my library of observation) but certain authors tended to pull in a very specific type of reader and Jordan's books were among those that…
She's a baby. Babies do not making acting choices — they are guided through the experience and their performance is constructed in editing. Is she a gifted natural? Very probably. Does she deserve the ultimate film acting award? No. Neither did Anna Paquin, the little white girl whose win I previously wanted to slap…
You're too busy being used as a size comparison for European nations to pick favorites amongst your animal friends.
