Dance Moms is about catty moms. The Real Housewives follows housewives. ANTM mainly features women. Football is a testosterone fest. Why are we even surprised?

Why the fuck is everyone so mad. This did give me new appreciation for my mom. And believe it or not, it is moms bearing the biggest burden of childrearing in many cases so I think they do deserve some special recognition. Yes, I love my dad and appreciate all that he has done for me. But watching this video

That's literally what I was saying in response to the original commenter, that gender and other social issues are the defining wedge due to its transparency (what with hashtag activism and the like). That the social issues are the ones we are exposed to on a daily basis is the sentiment I was trying to express with

Very true, very true. The adoption of political parties as social identifiers rather than ideologies can't be ignored though.

I completely agree with this comment. However, I've noticed a trend (especially with the younger voters) that gender and LGBTQ issues are the defining points of the two parties. Probably has something to do with the Tumblr-fication of social activism. Because economic issues and international affairs are too heavy

I'm not really getting all the hate on Dove. Yeah, this campaign may not be perfect but you have to admit it's a step in the right direction, which is more than what you can say for all the other beauty companies out there. To me, the ad is something to think about more than a commercial for their products.

Would there be as much outrage over her alleged cultural appropriation if she didn't start out her career with Disney? Is the outrage over it genuine or do you think that people just want something with which to criticize her (I've seen both sides so I was wondering)?

Please tell me that sexually active boys are dirty too. Like this chocolate analogy is horrific enough, but please tell me they apply it equally to the genders.

Two words. American Beauty. That is all.

The point I'm making is that she's doing what makes her comfortable (whether modest or not modest or in between) and that's something to be celebrated.

I respect Candace for not caving into the pressure of dressing sexy. Shame on you for making fun of her!

Because the vast majority of CEO's are white men...

I mean, men don't really have many options when it comes to work wear (suits, more suits, etc) so it does make sense that women are usually singled out when it comes to fashion for professionals.

Maybe I'm just a grandma stuck in a 20 year old body but I don't understand the de-stigmatization of drugs.

Very thought-provoking stuff! But it's important that we don't equate the two.

What is even the point of this... isn't this a feminism blog? Not hating, just wondering.

Well put, Kelly! Chivalry =/= respect

I love this but at the same time, I wish I never saw this.

As someone who got bullied frequently in a school where teachers and administrators did nothing to help, as someone who was small for her age who couldn't physically defend herself, I would have loved it if my mom beat up my bully for me.

Jezebel isn't criticizing the employee for being photographed naked, but American Apparel for using female breasts as an advertisement.
