Lupita has a last name, you know...

Well no movement is going to succeed when only 50% of the population supports it. And the majority of people in power, financially and politically, who can help create change are men so it does help to have male feminists. Feminism should not be divisive. Even though it's not perfect right now, it's better than

It's a good thing when people associate feminism with positive change rather than negative or unnecessary change, a vital first step. It's useless to have a few well-meaning feminists unless a lot of people can get behind the movement. It doesn't necessarily create change but like I said, it's a step forward.

Please explain to me how modern day feminism is radical, considering that we're living in the 21st Century.

I think any dis-stigmatization of the word "feminist" is a necessary step. The thing that's killing the feminist movement is the perception that it's radical and not geared towards the masses.

I think there's a difference between wanting to be fit and wanting to be skinny! Like Kim is obviously never going to be Twiggy.

Pros: Shirts will easily identify douche-bags.

I don't doubt that women get a lot of death threats but I would really like to see this study. And I see plenty of death threats targeted towards male celebrities/politicans, etc.

I know that about women in media (especially as a long-time fan of Anita Sarkeesian). I meant that death threats are not only specific to women, that Banfield wasn't only targeted mainly because of her gender like the commenter implied.

I don't think death threats are a gender specific thing...

I'm not saying it's more valid, I'm just saying it's more marketable considering our capitalistic and technology driven world.

I disagree. Pragmatically, engineers are much more vital to the running of the world than a poet is, and considering that we live in a capitalistic society, it makes sense that an engineer would make more. I'm a woman in a STEM field and understand that more needs to be done to rid the notion of "girl majors and

The highest paying jobs (usually engineering, which is heavily male dominated) don't require any type of grad school which is one explanation. Higher education might correlate to higher earnings, but that's heavily influenced by the major you choose.

So if a woman gets a degree in English and a man gets a degree in Chemical Engineering and the man has a higher salary, then that's sexist? And how is women earning more than men an "equal society"? Salaries between women and men should be equal within the same job/industry.

I consider myself somewhat of a film snob but I LOVE THIS MOVIE AND YOU PEOPLE CAN'T TAKE THAT AWAY FROM ME.

I'm glad BBC recognizes the problem but this will just create resentment rather than foster meaningful discussion.

Um... that image is obviously photoshopped too. As are every other photo of a conventionally pretty woman out there.

Um... that's my best friend's height and weight right there and she's pretty healthy. People just like to have something to complain about.

I really don't understand Jezebel writers sometimes.

My family on my dad's side is Japanese and I always go to their house during the summer. Unfortunately, I can relate completely.
