Before I was a 46 year old dad who drives 3 miles out of the way to save 20 cents per gallon at Costco (the math still works out)... I’d say I was pulled over about 15 times for speeding. Anywhere from 15 to 35 mph over the limit. Not once was I ever asked to get out of the car (or subjected to any search).

The explanation may very well NOT be legit. The cops may not have possessed probable cause for searching the guy for drugs based on the traffic stop alone.

Had a "friend" (very loose term... more like a kid who lived down the block) whose parents bought him a Supra MKIV Turbo.  Pretty sure it was the first model year, so that would have been around 93 or so, and he was 17 or 18.  The douche-factor was indeed high with that kid.

A-fucking-men. I think every DW post I’ve made  during the Whitaker era relates in some way to how much Chibnall sucks and has decimated the entire mythos. I don’t know why the BBC hasn’t been scouring comments sections for my nerd posts, and make the appropriate changes.

Call me a snowflake, or a libtard, or whatever... But how the fuck is there a motorbike series for 14 year olds? The requisite skill for something that dangerous doesn’t seem like something a 14 year old should even be able to consent to. IMO... obviously.

Agreed. And I really like what Levar Burton said, and what you echoed in your post: it’s not “cancel culture”, it’s “consequence culture.” What they’re really mad about is that they can’t get away with it anymore.

A self-own that always gives me a good chuckle:

Even though I know my kids will make a mess of the car by the end of the road trip, I like to clean and organize the car before leaving. Get all the random papers and nerf darts out of the cup holders. Organize/get rid of superfluous charging cables. Get headphones and internet hot spot all ready for my boys too.

Chicagoan here. For any Wisconsin road trips, we try and time our departure so we can do lunch and a bit of snack shopping at Mars Cheese Castle. But we never buy our Spotted Cow there (or any other New Glarus beers). Way overpriced. For booze, it’s Woodmans or Piggly Wiggly.

And Aimee Levitt left The Takeout yesterday.

They could even substitute foam hammers for those that just can't let go of the tomahawks.  Great call on the name.

I wish there was some rhyme or reason to it. Occasionally I see a writer waive their benevolent wand, and rescue one of us plebes into the world of full tint. Hopefully, we’ll get that privilege one day...but I ain’t holding my breath.

and a Shell logo.”

And add Rob Schneider, Victoria Jackson, et. al. to the heap.

No disagreement from me here. To paraphrase Mr. Miyagi “Left side of road, Ok. Right side of road, Ok. Middle of road, squish like grape [literally]”

I go back and forth on the autonomous driving stuff. To me, the biggest selling point is eliminating the idiot factor you talked about. The question though is whether you can mandate it? I think we, as Americans, are never going to give up our god given right to do tunnel pulls in a 700 HP challenger. I also go back

Standardization is critical to EV adoption. In urban areas, many (most?) people don’t have garages, and a good deal of those people rely on street parking for their vehicles (I own a home with a garage in Chicago, and even one of my cars needs street parking). I think Tesla’s fastest charge time right now is about 15

I kind of get it, but I don’t know why.

Yeah we do.

This set of facts seems so specific; that regardless of whether you agree or disagree, I can’t see it having that much of an impact. The vast majority of fill-ups are self serve (unless you live in an area like New Jersey where, where self-serve is unlawful). Accordingly, any gas station duty will almost never be
