Oh, man. I replayed the prologue outside of VR (after playing for hours in VR), and had to “retrain” myself to use the analog stick to aim. I must’ve looked real silly waving my head around to no avail.

Yeah, my 3 yr. old knows not to touch Daddy’s games, but it took some intense psychological manipulation and fear conditioning over the course of the last two years to get there.

Like what you like, dude, minority or not. Let me urge you to go ahead and get that PS4. Until Dawn is worth it. Don’t let it sour you on David Cage though. It’s not farfetched to say that Supermassive does best David Cage at his own game, but you clearly seem to like the genre.

You go looking for the negative and you’ll find it. I’ve learned that from family, mentors, and even game narratives (Mafia III even carries this message). Despite flaws in Cage’s storytelling chops, his games are visionary, engaging, and fun. So yeah, I’ll keep buying them.

Did anybody do any of the Uber missions? There’s one where you are helping the passenger find his missing robot, which he named after Johnny 5 from Short Circuit. The two then have an extended dialog about the movies. You have to be a nerd of a certain age to appreciate that one.

Yuzo Kashiro is responsible for a ridiculous number of game soundtracks. I would even say that his works are more prolific and ranged than Nobuo Uematsu, just nowhere near as popular obviously. Etrian Odyssey’s sweeping emotive melodies are the perfect anithesis to his techno offerings. I was gonna pass on 7th Dragon.

True, and I’ve actually done exactly that (actually earning that last ending is a ridiculous feat). However, not experiencing Drakengard is akin to folks getting on to each other for not experiencing Nier and its New Game+ (I know a little about what transpires from listening to podcasts.)

I’ve got to get on that myself. I own Nier and all three Drakengard games, but only ever finished Drakengard 1.

Yeah, I only played the first few hours of Nier, and I can tell you the perspective shifts and bullet hell stuff are carry-overs from that game. The combat, however, felt loose and off. I believe that’s why they turned to Platinum to help tighten up that aspect of the game.

Oh, it gets better. Again, don’t know how WD1 compares, but HudMo’s tracks are worked into the gameplay contextually like a lot of modern games do to convey mood at any given moment. The best example is the track Haum Sweet Haum. During this mission, the first movement of the track (with no bass) is played on a

Yeah, it is pretty jarring because it’s so noticeable in FFXV, but it’s still cool. I just remembered that Dark Souls III does it as well. The track during a boss fight swells and becomes more dramatic depending on how far you’ve whittled their health down. Both Skies of Arcadia (Dreamcast/Gamecube) and Lightning

Have you played the 3DS Fire Emblem games? They use a similar technique with a more subdued version of a track playing during the tactical phase. Then when the camera zooms in on the battle when you attack, the track seamlessly transistions to a more upbeat war march type version of the song. I really enjoy this

Never played WD1, so I can’t compare, but i will definitely check out the soundtrack on your recommendation. I didn’t realize Hudson Mohawke did WD2's sound until I fired up the game, and I was amazed. The OST has been a constant in my playlist since then.

Yeah, I would have been upset if DedSec wasn’t on this list. It was the perfect icing on the cake of a great game that I almost slept on. I followed absolutely none of Watch Dogs 2's promotion, and bought it on a whim. I didn’t even know Hudson Mohawke was involved. I became a fan of his music a few years ago, and

Yeah, I feel Blizzard has really jumped the shark on the overwrought media blitz that is Overwatch. I have never once played the game, yet I feel that I know entirely too much about the franchise. Good on Blizzard for making its audience care about these characters, but it’s starting to feel hollow and political. Who

Oh, man. This bottle flipping fad is driving me crazy. I’m a junior high AP, and we have to get on our students everyday about this. It starts innocently enough, but immature adolescents go overboard and start trying to flip bottles 10 ft. in the air and on stairwells. Video games are my escape, and now THIS?! This

Yeah, that game is so defined by launching on the Gamecube. Also, the fact is that it wasn’t even supposed to be on the PS2 at all, let alone being a timed exclusive. I believe the creator infamously said that if RE4 released on another platform that he would cut off his own head. Consider the PS2 version the real

I’m ashamed of myself. I’ve championed the VF series since its inception, and I didn’t mention VF4 in my earlier comment. I was obsessed with that game for years.

Yeah, the internet is so divided on Kingdom Hearts, but let’s give credit where credit is due regardless of personal preferences. There are hundreds of games I’ve never played, but will include on a list if I’m knowledgeable enough to know their value and importance.

Am I correct in assuming that English isn’t your first language? Ubiquitous (I misspelled it earlier) in this case means ‘being everywhere’ or ‘showing up all over the place.’ I personally don’t finish all side-quests in my games, but I don’t like to leave them unchecked.
