I like the idea of 4-3-3, but the lineup you propose would have Lloyd sitting behind Rapinoe and Heath, both of whom would either get sucked into the middle or leave the midfield wide open for Germany.

It’s probably crazy, because Rapinoe is obviously great, but it seems like the team lacks dynamism when she is in the game. I can’t put my finger on it, she can dribble and pass with the best of them, but it seems like the rest of the team plays too much around her, rather than with her.

Haven't read this yet, scrolled down to say how thrilled I am that Haisley isn't writing this.

Look, I don’t think the NFLPA does a particularly good job most of the time, but the thing that’s incredibly galling about this is that Troy’s pile of mendacious wordvomits is trying to conceal that the owners actively oppose every single thing he mentioned.

Spain? Is this the same Spain that voted for Sepp Blatter or was that a different Spain?

I would argue that you are conflating the most entertaining team with the best one. France play really attractive football, and sure, the USWNT’s attack is sort of dull, but the Yanks have absolutely dominated their two knockout stage games so far. Hope Solo hasn’t had to make anything more difficult than a routine

Also Dear Lord in Heaven,

When they’re making t-shirts for Luis Suárez to let him know that he’s supported after getting suspended for using a racial slur while doing everything short of calling Sterling uppity for years, well, one starts to wonder about some of the most visibly apparent differences between the two men.

Would Kyrie on a hoverboard have made a difference?

the Women’s World Cup is entertainment

I’m starting to really like your red ass footy posts, JB.

I LIKE THIS POST BECAUSE THERE IS BREAD IN THE STORY AND YOUR COMMENT HAS BREAD PUNS BAKED IN.

I dont want to upset scousers, next time i go there they will nick my shoes as well as my tyres

Here we see him getting both a base hit and drawing a yellow card.

A League of They’re Owned

These Stand Your Ground laws have gone way too far.

I’m pretty sure Dellavedova is the basketball reincarnation of Drew’s Chopped application and experience.

I agree with you, and I think it’s a shame that Deadspin has become a place for performative sanctimony, where one has to preface and apologize for having a different perspective, even if it’s both reasonable and not offensive (like yours).

I don’t know Tom, I mean. I am afraid here at Deadspin to say what I think without repercussion. I mean, I get the ESPYs are just famewhoring anyways. I do think reasonable people (not necessarily just Bob Costas) have legit hesitations about hoisting Caitlyn up so unequivocally. I’m sorry :(

The we are even having such an engaged argument in this context reflects (I hope) the growth of the women’s game, which is good. It is good footy.
