I’m speaking from personal experience here. My own 944, as well as several other 944s my friends have owned, never really let us down. And if were talking used cars here, it’s always going to be a case by case basis.
This is your answer: Porsche 944. Fantastic drive, classic looks, incredibly reliable and straightforward to work on. They are quite plentiful within an $8k budget and are surprisingly practical with the rear seats and a lift back.

None of these are supercars except for the NSX and 996 Turbo, but you’d be hard pressed to find those for under $35,000.
A quick Google search indicated that in MN at least you are only required to clear the front and side windows. That’s not enought IMO.

Saw something like this in Minneapolis last year around Christmas time. No tire, wheel on pavement. The driver couldn’t control the car and it was jerking across lanes. I didn’t pull my phone out to videotape. I thought it was safer to get the heck away.
