I still love my Switch and will likely continue to love it into 2021. I have so many great games still to play or to finish on it. I just got the massive open world RPG Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition (which will undoubtedly keep me busy for a long time). Earlier this year, I bought The Sinking City on Switch

I agree. These awards are about the end product and the ingenuity and creativity that went into making that product a reality. The daily grind that went into making it is an entirely separate issue. I don’t like crunch culture either, but it should have no bearing on awards that are decided based on a game’s quality.

From what I’ve seen online, the Xbox One version reminds me of one of those “impossible” Switch ports. If this game were released on Switch looking like the Xbox One version does, I would be singing its praises. But this does not look good for an Xbox One game. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided — another open world cyberpunk

This is what I’m afraid of too. I don’t want Halo Infinite to be 343's Destiny, but that’s really what it’s looking like from what I’ve seen of the map and the super-generic villain. Now that they’ve seen that Anthem is in limbo and Marvel’s Avengers is dying, maybe they’re having second thoughts about making Halo

I’m not excited for Cyberpunk 2077, and I say that as someone who loves Deus Ex: Human Revolution, considers Deus Ex: Mankind Divided my favorite game of the PS4/Xbox One console generation, and had a great time with Cloudpunk. The reason I’m not excited for it is The Witcher III. I’ve never been able to bring myself

Yeah, the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro don’t seem like good additions to the market in retrospect. The Xbox Series X is certainly an impressive machine for the price, but it comes in at only double the teraflops of the Xbox One X. That’s less of a leap and more of a hop. Going from 1.33 teraflops (original Xbox One) to 12

Honestly, 2021 seems a little soon for a new Horizon game on PS5. If they can pull it off, more power to them. But 2022 sounds about right to me.

This is the first next gen console debut that I’m not really excited about. The little bit of excitement I had for the Xbox Series S has waned after I’ve heard that it may not be just a Series X with a 1080p to 1440p resolution range. It may be gimped to the point where we’re going to regularly see things like

Am I to understand that you can use a GameCube controller with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate but not with Super Mario Sunshine?

I played Sunshine when it was first out too, and I traded it in pretty quickly. I can’t remember if I thought it was too hard or too boring (or both), but I didn’t like the level designs. But hey, it’s 18 years later and I’m definitely willing to give it another shot. And I’ve never played Super Mario Galaxy, so that

What I figure is that it pretty much ensured Blu-ray’s victory over HD-DVD since every PS3 owner could play Blu-ray discs on their console. By contrast, there was an HD-DVD external drive available as an additional purchase for the Xbox 360.

Not surprising that the launch PS3s have by far the worst pricing out of any of the big three’s launch consoles. It seems like winning the hi-def war (Blu-ray vs HD-DVD) was more important to Sony than offering the PS3 at a halfway decent price.

May as well stick to 1080p for now. I’m right there with you. I haven’t made the jump to 4k and neither have a lot of other people. If there does end up being a 4k Switch next year, I’ll just stick with my current Switch (like I stuck with my original Xbox One when the Xbox One X came along).

Entry level, sure. But entry level isn’t going to get you into ray tracing or 4K gaming in 2021 and beyond. If you want the same experience on PC that you’re getting on, say, the Xbox Series X, you’re going to have to shell out a lot more money (assuming the Xbox Series X ends up being priced at $600 like I’m

I didn’t mean to sound entitled, but I understand how I came across that way. I shouldn’t have called Sony stingy. That implies that they’re somehow being miserly, and they really aren’t. I just want them to treat their game releases the way Microsoft does and stop being so tied down to the idea that the console is

They would have a reason to buy the hardware regardless. It’s either that or pay twice as much money for a decent gaming PC (if you don’t already have one). That’s why plenty of people are still going to buy the Xbox Series X even though there are no true Series X exclusives (at least none that I’ve heard about).

I admit, that was the wrong thing for me to say. It was unfair. That said, there’s nothing stopping Sony from making all of their games available on Steam, Epic Games Store, etc. at the same time they’re released on console. I want them to treat game releases more like Microsoft does. But hey, that’s Sony’s business.

There’s definitely a reason to buy consoles even without exclusives. There are going to be loads of people buying the Xbox Series X not because there are games you can only play on it but because they don’t want to invest twice as much money in a gaming PC.

I would say that it’s definitely just now. Platforms are mattering less and less all the time, and I think Microsoft is really pushing ahead with that concept. Basically... The times they are a-changin’, and Sony isn’t keeping up.

Honestly, I just want to play the games. I’m not a console or PC loyalist. Microsoft understands people like me and wants to make their games as accessible as possible to a wide audience.
