I think that’s part of it. It’s obviously a lot easier to remaster an existing game than it is to make a brand new one from scratch, and you’re pretty much guaranteed profitability from ease of development combined with consumer nostalgia.

I love the backward compatibility we’ve seen on Xbox One. I never played Red Dead Redemption back in the day, but now I’m easily able to on my Xbox One in the run-up to the release of the sequel. And I’m now able to play the game at a rock-solid 30 fps thanks to the more powerful hardware.

I want to see the reboot Lara Croft in the Switch Smash Bros. I think it would be great. She could do that grappling move from Rise of the Tomb Raider to get back over to a ledge. A bow and arrow could be her ranged weapon (which could be charged for a harder impact) and her pick axe could be her melee weapon.

I still have a long way to go in FFXV’s story. I’m enjoying the game so far, but one thing I really don’t like is the weird barriers to exploration. If you want to hike all the way up one of the small mountains in the game (or large hills — whichever they are), the game won’t let you. There are cliff faces surrounding

I agree that Human Revolution had a better story. I like Mankind Divided primarily for its exploration. I found a major side story early in my playthrough just by exploring.

I may never uninstall:

We’ll have to agree to disagree on Twilight Princess. It’s my number 2 pick behind Breath of the Wild. Yes, Twilight Princess does have a dull intro. But once you’re past that, it turns into a compelling dark fairy tale with the most interesting supporting character I’ve ever seen in a Zelda game. Breath of the Wild

Anime was a niche interest in America back when I was buying Street Fighter II V videotapes at Suncoast in the ‘90s. It’s not niche anymore. Even many people who probably wouldn’t consider anime one of their interests have probably seen one or two Studio Ghibli films.

Arctic Zero is the bland kind of healthy. Avoid it.

I’m playing through Final Fantasy XV for the first time too (Xbox One version for me). I’m liking it so far, but it’s such a complex game that it’s going to take me a while to learn everything.

I’m thinking that we’ll get a Prime 4 teaser trailer at E3 2018, and a 2019 release window will probably be announced. And we may get an HD version of the trilogy on the Switch by the end of this year.

What I want is for the video game industry to regulate itself. The ESRB has the power to do that (by slapping an Adults Only rating on each game with loot boxes that can be purchased with real money and negatively impacting its salability as a result). If the industry refuses to regulate itself (which has

QUOTE | What we learned is that a large majority of parents don’t know what a loot box is, and even those who claim they do don’t really understand what a loot box is. So it’s very important for us to not harp on loot boxes per se, but to make sure we’re capturing loot boxes but also other in-game transactions. -

Unfortunately, getting these big publishers and developers to go back to straightforward microtransactions (you see a thing you want and you buy just that thing) is going to be difficult after they’ve been making money hand over fist with loot boxes. The ESRB has the power to step in and slap an Adults Only rating on

I’ve never been into gambling in any form (I don’t even buy lottery tickets or scratch-offs), and even I was sucked in by loot boxes. In my case, it was Rocket League’s crates (which are supposedly all cosmetic, though I do find the crate-exclusive vehicles questionable). Thankfully, I didn’t spend enough to put

I haven’t even gotten into the game yet despite having owned the base game and the season pass on Xbox One for a while, but I think I’ll finally get into it when I can upgrade to the Royal Edition on the 6th. I anticipate that the Royal Edition upgrade will cost $10 or $15. Not worth the extra $35 or $40 for the PC

I consider the Wii U version of Human Revolution the definitive version for those reasons — and for menu navigation on the GamePad screen.

Whether they intended it this way or not, I think the people behind Steam have done something significant to combat piracy. The introduction of refunds has made it so that the “I want to try it before I buy it” excuse no longer applies. You can buy a game and get a refund on that game if you don’t like it (as long as

Two of the things that have been holding back digital distribution are slow/capped internet service and built-in hard drives that are too small.

Marcus Richardson, an employee at New York used games store 8 Bit And Up, said he had not ever seen a Wii U pass through his shop until last week. The console’s owner sold it to make rent after quitting his job, he said.
