A $349 Xbox One at launch would have been nice, but imagine what a $499 Xbox One might have been like without Kinect. We might have had a console that was actually worth the higher price tag. I’m imagining a 2+ teraflop GPU that would have made the PS4 the less powerful of the two consoles for this generation.

QUOTE | “For the higher-end immersive gaming VR space, the ‘chasm of disappointment’ is quickly becoming more of an abyss.” - The NPD Group’s Mat Piscatella is unimpressed with Oculus’ big announcements this week and its decision to make the $399 price point for Rift and Touch permanent.

My only hang-up with these TCL televisions is that they have Dolby Vision HDR. I think the HDR in the HDR-capable PS4 and Xbox One consoles is only compatible with HDR10 televisions.

I think we all know what to expect: a combination of Scarlett Johansson and lens flares.

While I sort of agree with you, I think we have to keep in mind that Nintendo is committed to selling their consoles at a profit. The Switch didn’t even come packaged with a game because Nintendo was committed to keeping everything profitable. I’m thinking the X2 might have jacked up the price of the Switch to $400 —

There were third-person cover shooters before Gears of War, but it wasn’t really a genre until after Gears of War came along. The Gears of War half-cover system became kind of a staple in third-person shooters after that. Even Mass Effect — which had a very different cover system in the first game — borrowed the

Also Gears of War for the 2000s? Who is going to agree with you on that one?

I agree with all of your previous decade choices, although I do think that Street Fighter II gives Doom some serious competition (because of the massive popularity and multiple iterations of it).

Will somebody think of the children? It’s one thing to say that adults who earn, say, $50,000 a year can just buy a PS4 and an Xbox One and never have to worry about a lack of cross-play. But what about kids? What if little Johnny gets an Xbox One for Christmas and then months down the road his PS4-owning friend wants

Star Fox 2 — SNES Classic

You mean... I might actually be able to buy one or BOTH of these at the suggested retail price?

I think this is a shame. Wasteland was my favorite arena because of how different it was. Couldn’t those unusual maps at least be kept for casual play? Taking them out of everything kind of strikes me like Nintendo taking items out of ‘For Fun’ mode in Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U (something Nintendo would

I gave up on my YouTube channel a long time ago. I posted that video because it was relevant to what I was talking about. If you don’t want to watch it, you aren’t bothering me. I expect that most people around here won’t want to watch it.

Now playing

I really wanted to like ReCore, but that game nearly bored me to sleep. Granted — I was already tired when I started playing it, but a game like that should have jolted me awake with excitement. Instead, I was treated to dull gameplay and one of the worst glitches I’ve ever seen. I’m glad I bought a physical copy of

They definitely are. There should be probably twice as much ice cream above the cone line.

I don’t think No Man Sky’s $60 price tag hurt them in the short run. I’m sure it was quite a boon for them in the short run — even with all the Steam refunds. But in the long run? That’s a different story. Hello Games may never be trusted again by the gaming community at large. It’s good that they’re continuing to

QUOTE | “Pricing is like doing a weather forecast, but there’s no satellites and no computers, you’re locked indoors, and all you have as data is what the people who were outside a few days ago tell you.” - Vlambeer’s Rami Ismail describes the challenge indie devs face when in deciding how much to charge for their

I’m much more into arcade racers, so I would’ve preferred Forza Horizon 2. I’ll go ahead and claim Forza Motorsport 5, but I don’t know if I’ll ever play it.

I was alerted in a Kinja Twitter post about pre-orders going up at Target. I immediately went to the Target website, logged in, and added one SNES Classic Edition to my shopping cart. In the small amount of time it took me to complete the checkout process, all of the pre-orders vanished. I got an error every time I
