In my time in the industry, LucasArts was the only studio I ever saw that hired QA testers as FT employees in any significant numbers. All the other big companies used temp agencies for 99% of their QA teams with the exception of a handful of leads. That’s probably even less now as my experience is that majority of QA

FIFA is not a niche game.  It’s easily one of the biggest moneymakers the company has.  By a mile...

Thank you! I worked at LucasArts when this went around. In fact, I took that screenshot of Slave Leia from Lego Star Wars II. I completely forgot about this book. Cringeworthy...

And this! This +10.

Have to have this on in there too. And +1 for Silent Hunter 3.

I always had the same reaction to the Gears of War trailers that you mention about the Dead Island trailer. I love them but I hate that the games never delivered on that emotional level.

No love for Eternal Darkness???

This actually looks pretty good to me. Way better than the typical free-to-play movie tie-in crap that seems to be the norm for licensed movie games now. I miss the days of the crappy movie tie-in console games now...

So, I was actually a producer for Playstation Home for like 2 years. It was a really interesting experience. I’m proud of the games and spaces I worked on there (Dragon’s Green, The Playground, Warhawk.) I’m sad to see it die, but it’s not unexpected. Yeah, it was a totally weird place where people did weird things.

Awesome. The only thing that would make this better would be if they released an updated Enemy Territory multiplayer DLC.

Woot! I was a tester on the original release of Galactic Battlegrounds! I also worked on XvT. Looking forward to seeing them again. Like old friends!

Memories! I worked at LucasArts in the product support department when this game came out. We did supplemental testing and I would do speed runs through this game all the time. Not quite as fast as this guy, but same idea. Loved this game...

I don't get all these colleges offering classes in "the game industry". If you're going to learn a particular skill like programming or 3D modeling, sure that makes sense. But there's nothing you can learn in a class about "the industry" that you won't learn much accurately by just getting a job as a tester. And

Grim Fandango was 3D. I would consider it one of the finest adventure games ever made.

This same thing would probably go for $2,000 a month here in San Francisco. And have a waiting list of over a hundred people.

The sad thing is that I would have gladly forked over $20+ for this game on ios for a real game. I might have even gave them that much if the exchange rate on the premium currency was decent. But it's just horrible. I will never give them that kind of money for so little in return. Such a shame. I really was

"Following the success of Red Dead Redemption's use of the trick - it repeats it to lesser success towards the end of the game -"

No, I named Jet Brody after George's son to end the debate about it.

Mason Briggs forever! :)
