I used to wonder the same thing, then I watched Race of Champions a few years back. Schumacher, Vettel, Coulthard all wiped the floor with the other racers. You watch the onboard video and you see an absolute economy of movement on the steering wheel and lightning response times.

Hmm... lot more people on that time lapse who have trained for years for that one job. The Veyron looks quicker & easier!
