In days of yore, when I was a lawn owner, I found that laissez-faire leaves (ha ha, get it “leaves” ha ha!) a mat of matter that chokes the ground cover in the spring. Maybe because we had A LOT of leaves.

I like the Doge. Leave the Doge alooooone!

Yowza! Holy moly! I noticed the two bright lights a few days ago as I walked to my car after work on a clear evening. I used the Android app Sky Map to determine what I was seeing.

I can heartily recommend the Fire HD 8 tablet if you are looking for an inexpensive browser. USB-C, long battery life, decent screen - works great for me. It has 2GB RAM, which gives it decent performance (voice of experience: DO NOT buy a 1GB tablet)

Apologies for thread-jacking, but I just had a summer outdoor cooking revelation. Trying pork loin on a rudimentary charcoal grill, something new to me, I was wondering if I could gauge the temperature for comparison to oven recipes.

Oh my, that’s beautiful. Skip the 1/2 cup sugar and saute instead of deep frying and it’s right in my wheelhouse.

When I first became a suburban dweller with a lawn to mow, I took an extension class on grass - when to plant, when to mow, when to fertilize and when to water. It was super interesting to me. One thing that really stuck with me is that grass grows green and thick in the spring and fall - not in the summer (without

I routinely make stock/broth/whatever with the leftovers from a roasted chicken. It yields 2 to 4 quarts, which would be $4 to $8 (at least) in boxes from the store. That can exceed the cost of the chicken. Free stuff!

I think Claire should do an interview or Q & A with laurelnev’s dad.
