Truth.  I remember the fuss when Daimler bought Chrysler.  The company was floundering while the CEO made 18 mil.  Daimler’s CEO had a 2 mil salary.  And the fuss when they tried to lower Chrysler execs!

There may some legal definition, but it seems that the automaker gets to decide.  For instance, the wagon version of the Cobalt, which is the marvelous HHR, is officially classified as a light truck.  Why?  Some say it’s to pump up mileage ratings due to CAFE standards.  Adding a 35 mpg ‘truck’ helps that a lot.
