My 2000 Silverado, bought in Oct of ‘99, kept blowing out the passenger side DRL. More of a pain than a real problem. And mine wasn’t the only one.

I’ve never gotten a driver with any of my new GMs before.
It goes farther than that when the Feds are in it, too. Heard about Interstate Tariff? I spent 10 years with BellSouth Development. To run a main internet cable between Georgia and Florida, (at least in the late ‘90s) the cable stopped just short of the Florida state line. Then it switched to a third party, crossed…
“reclaim [its] rightful place as the off-road vehicle leader.”
Technically, it would be the Bronco III. We had the short-lived, short-sighted Bronco II in the Isuzu Trooper days.
I’ve been in Japan, Germany, and Norway. Bus riding is a dream, trains clean and on-time... and not falling apart.
Excellent statement, but you clump Europe under one thing and compare it to the U.S.
Interesting how everyone wants to compare us to Europe. Have you seen Europe? Germany is, like, 40 miles across (or whatever that thing is they use for miles). In Arizona, it’s farther than that to get to a 7-11. You get the drift.
The weight on the key ring was more how it became apparent, yes. But you did read that after all that investigation, it was the shortening of the spring/pin that was the root cause?
I’m pretty sure it’s because the trucks sell for 2 or three times the profit of Mustangs and the like. How else can one justify a $45,000 pickup?
That’s been denied. The smarmy marketing guy in the suit said; “No, we totes did not copy the Bentley.”.
Good history. But I was really referring to the principle of the thing. Yes, every car part has been in evolution for a century, I won’t argue that. Those ‘wings’ on the ignition were because, in those days, the switch had a really strong spring, and you would occasionally break a key if you didn’t use them. Saw that…
Lucky. Sometimes I guess it’s just what mood the Police are in as to whether you get ‘caught’ or not. Every day I see people speeding, with no light bulbs, no bumpers or mirrors.
No, to a Trekkie, phase is correct.
Because without it, they can’t punish people who have ‘American Standard’ cars. When they first tried this, people pushed back that since their car conformed to Federal mandates, California had no power to do squat. So they got Federal approval.
I know his pain. The “community of Ferrari collectors” come by my place occasionally, pointing and laughing.
When the truck got free, did the driver yell; “Let it go!”?
Well, we thought that after 80 years, GM would have figured out the ignition switch. People just get sloppy in trying to save a buck.
So it’s a software problem, then. Just requires a new patch. Steering wheel 2.0 or 1.1?
Don’t feel bad. I got a speeding ticket on Okinawa on mine. You pay road tax on bicycles there (when I was there, at least), and have to obey traffic laws like a car. I was screaming (at least 30 kph) in a 20 zone and a cop just stepped out in front of me. I about killed myself missing him. They even got me on radar.
