Not enough from the one customer to offset the $10k in profits from the one car.

Obviously these type of dealership do not believe in long term relationship. They will be the first one to cry over direct selling model like Tesla, which hopefully become more popular down the road.

Out of curiosity, have you ever ridden in one? They are supremely comfortable. I would suggest they’re far more comfortable than most sports cars for most daily driving uses. Practical? Maybe not so much. But comfortable? Absolutely.

I don’t think that that is a demonstrable fact. You can look at death per registered vehicle year. I don’t think the results are what you think they are... (No data on the bronco yet, but the Wrangler is better than any category of sports car)

This would be a good point if there wasn’t also a very visible segment of sports car drivers who are assholes and are a danger to other drivers on the road.

The move to all-electric is happening now, even if slowly, so the head folks are trying to get their designs right, rather than being left behind in the market.

“One probably also gets less than 21 miles of range when you take this thing off-road, but, again, that is not what this is for, though I would love to hear the results of someone who has tested the Wrangler 4xe in, say, Moab. Maybe at the very least you can turn it into some kind of party trick.”

I think you meant, sorry I put something completely unrelated to the article in the headline.

What about all that "almost broke Jalopnik" though?  I reread this a few times and not seeing it.  Might be my lack of comprehension though.

Did anyone else start to believe they were having a stroke while reading this article?

What about a flat apposed 4?

This is exactly correct. Great to see your real-world calculations too.

It depends on the terrain, vehicle and driving style, too. IFS is great for keeping the bulk of a chassis out of things like mud/dirt ruts, which can let you sort of use the edges of the ruts to grab traction. Solid axles tend to get hung up hard on the diff, where an IFS lower control arm can kind of shave the edges

I think Jeep’s bullet point about the front differential maintaining more stable ground clearance is a bit dubious”

GM is definitely behind RAM on the tech side though. I’m a GM guy but man their tech has been years behind everyone else. Buy a $90k Sierra Denali and get the same 8" touch screen that’s in my Cruze that looks woefully out of place in that bit truck dash. Get a Ram and get a nice big 12".

1st gear: complete baloney. It’s well known that the big 3 put all of their tech into trucks and SUVs. They are what sell, and are no less equipped than anything else out there. Unless you count Merc’s air-freshener infused HVAC. Which is stupid, and just exists to say they have new tech.

I’m not sure about most high tech truck, but I sure as hell know the most low tech midsizer and full sizer.

Miata if all you want is fun.  Fiesta ST if you want to have fun while maintaining a level of practicality.

I like this. In Norman OK. Mazdaspeed 3 is a blast to drive and can double as a stuff and people hauler
