I’ve seen both in person and I think the biggest surprise was just how good the Z4 looked. I was not a fan of it in pics.

Based on your figures I could afford this car...but it still just sounds like more than I want to spend on a car. I’ve found that the more income my wife and I bring home, the more I want to spend less on cars. I still remember when I first made $40k and I plunked down $25k on a used M3 and saved all my pennies for

I have had more fun on my electric than any vehicle I have ever owned (car, truck, motorcycle, etc)...and I’ve had some pretty sweet vehicles. With this thing, I can go anywhere....even the trails behind my house where they would call the cops on a gas moto.

Every time I see one, I cringe a little.

how “hand-built” is it really? Like, did they actually build this thing from the ground up next to the NSX or was this built on the normal assembly line, then shipped to the NSX factory to have some over-qualified guys install some trim pieces?

people with more money than you.

So it’s stupidly quick, but it’s actually a bit slower than the top of the range Tesla. It has a smaller battery, weighs more, and costs twice as much. Based on the first two statements in that last sentence, it likely has lower range too.

And out of all states, it’s registered in California. I know that with the right tools, DME hacks, and a good-ol-fashioned corrupt smog tech, you can squeak certain swaps through. But this one? Yeah...no.

I recently picked up a 2019 GT with GT-S....love it. I would have gotten the RF but the roof was just too low and I hit my head when sitting comfortably. Soft tops have something like .6" more room. Although the RF looks much sexier (IMO), at least I can sleep easy knowing I saved 100lbs and a chunk of change.

Hmmmm...interesting math here. Since most BMWs are leased for ~36 months these days, and being that the first year is free, the average leasee would pay $160 to have carplay as a subscription.

best use case for rolling solar I can think of. Charge up electric semi while moving or parked, charge back into grid or some other medium when disconnected from truck/not in use.

It was pretty apparent that C&D goofed on torque rating somehow. This is more like it. Still..really impressive. Go B58!

You’re only averaging 27.67 MPG? I averaged around 31 with the same engine/trans in our FWD CX-5 and around 29 with the 2.5/6spd manual in a Mazda6.

Wow, those look insane. Speaking of HRE, they do an open house every year and it’s super cool to see how they make their wheels. Plus there’s a ton of badass cars that come for the show. If you’re in the San Diego area, looks like it’s coming up 6/1/19.

OK, color me confused by the fuel economy. Wife has an A5 Sportback...a car that looks an awful lot like this car, uses the same engine, and has a more proper AWD system that splits 40/60 by default. Now granted, the A5 does weigh about 100lbs less (according to VAG), but doesn’t have the ultra efficient 8 speed

I still maintain that full self-driving will never be safe unless all of the vehicles on the road are being self-driven, and ideally connected to a shared wireless network with the status of vehicles and infrastructure all around them. Even then, I still have issues with the autonomous “moral” decisions that would

Oh cool so it's just like all the other b58s except even more torque than before. Vunderbar

Great read. Very well written. When you made the mjolnir reference I giggled. Both cars seem amazing but I have to question how many people there really are out there that can both afford said cars and really take advantage of the performance? Whenever I’ve seen GT3s at track days or Autocrosses, sure...they do pretty

It pulls right off. No screws or clips. (At least on the BMWs). But it’s uuuugly underneath and only amplifies the sounds of direct injection ticking.

The B58 that was introduced in the 2016 340i was rated at 320hp/320tq but regularly put down 330+hp and 340+tq AT THE WHEELS. So it was already a 380hp car STOCK. I suspect the Supra variant is closer to 400.
