The OT has hope going for it, along with a nice dose of humor, and is fun to watch. I definitely see those qualities in Rebels. The show is supposed to run for 3 or 4 seasons, and I am curious to see how the characters and events will tie into A New Hope. The only episode so far that's seemed stupid to me has been

I disagree. My husband and I like the show as much as our kids do. I love that it has more of the feel of the OT. And higher stakes are coming.

And his presence ratchets things up considerably. The man does not mess around.

TCW had its share of stupid and/or annoying episodes, and even many of the good ones were rendered meaningless by the fact that we knew how the story would end. Rebels is meant to have more of the feel of the OT, and it does.

Kallus was facetiously calling Ezra by the name Ezra gave him. He knows full well it isn't his name. Actually, given that Trayvis worked out who Ezra's parents were in this episode, the Empire will undoubtedly use Ezra's true identity (and his parents' fates) in some future episode.

Given that Kanan has already said something to the effect of "Now all that remains is the Force" (in Path of the Jedi), and that he is almost disparaging of the many rules that got tacked onto the Jedi Code in A New Dawn, I'm guessing that Ezra's moral code and philosophy training is of the "lite" variety. Just what

Sabine doesn't know. Hera does.

I'm curious to see if and how Kanan changes from here on out. He knows that he lost his way and has a chance now to make things right, and Yoda replies that it's his last chance. I wonder what that will translate into for him and by extension, the crew.

Good points. I would say the same for my kids. I was surprised, however, by how dark and intense the Temple sequences got for a Y7 show. Not unpleasantly surprised, though; I thought they really worked.

Rebels is supposed to run 3 or 4 seasons. Give it time. I'll bet they really get into some some deep shit before all is said and done.

True about Anakin. But at the end of Ezra's conversation with Yoda, he gets to the crux of why he wants to be a Jedi: to protect people, to help them like the Ghost crew does, and to make them feel alive. That's pretty noble. I really liked that moment

Right, right, and right! As a female SW fan, I love Leia, much more than Padme (and really, those two are the only significant female characters in the 6 films). She is truly badass. TCW added Ahsoka (once she got past her early annoying-ness) and Ventress (who really got interesting as the seasons went on). I like

Same here. It said a lot for the crew that almost everyone contributed something to Ezra (except for Zeb, and since he's not very tech-y, I don't know what he would have given). They're surviving by the skin of their teeth, and despite Fulcrum, they're still pretty much on their own. Ezra's saber reflects that as well

I'm just reading A New Dawn now. When Kanan says he lost his way, he's referring to the years he spent boozing, brawling, and womanizing after Order 66 and before he and Hera teamed up. However, we still don't know everything about him, and I wonder too if he took a trip or two to the dark side.

SPOILER ALERT

No, the Inquisitor is in the advanced design TIE in the middle of the pack chasing the Ghost.

I read the articles you linked, and the speculation is interesting. Going that route would certainly give Vader a personal reason for hating the rebels. It would make his feelings of betrayal more complete, adding Ahsoka to the list of people who screwed him over, from his POV.

I love Rex, so that would make me scream out loud. Shades of Cut Lawquane. But looking at the family pic that ends the episode, Ephraim seems to have blue eyes and blue-black hair, like Ezra. His skin color is right, though. Hmm. It would be cool if a clone actually became a father. I always felt sorry for those guys.

Yeah, I can see Hera keeping silent in that case. And I can also see Ezra finding out some other way (didn't the Inquisitor refer to him as "orphan?"), which would cause trust issues to erupt again. Although given how much Hera cares for her crew, if they are alive, I could also see a possible rescue becoming a reason

His master is Vader. The extended opening to The Spark of Rebellion showed Vader talking to the Inquisitor via hologram and tasking him with eliminating or turning "children of the Force."
