He also wanted something light and turbo

i didnt think of this (but did the 4c- how did i not follow that train of thought). You win. Everyone else forgot the light part

Everyone else forgot the “light” part. A new r20det silvia wuld be perfect- if such a thing existed

That mustang is no where near light though.

The bimmers are complicated/expensive to work on.

I had a turbo/t-top/manual/2+2 280zx the combo, Id always wanted. Im a seasoned fixer of junky cars, but Ive learned to avoid bosh jettronic stuff, and this was no different. Also these handle funny. And parts arent that cheap. And they rust. And the interior build quality is poor. Mostly, they just arent viscerally

I recommended Honda too. For an all around car, I agree the integra is the way to go, by virtue of being better looking and more modern with a nicer interior.

But for a cheap track project I think a crx is a better bet. Lighter, shorter wheelbase (more nimble), gonna swap it anyway.

GSR were only manual. With the LS its still easy to find a manual

Id go 3800 supercharged, not V8 but ya. The last ones had vastly improved suspensions.

The police models have very good suspension for rall-x too. The crash repairability is a boon.

Its not the same just because the displacement is. Transverse vs longitudinal is a fundamental incompatibility.

I bought a maroon manual wagon with a dent from a moderate side impact for $500 two years ago. It even had A/C and LSD. It was slow, but I loved the way it felt. Hight recommended.

I thought it was pretty bad. Also the vented ones let water in, so they failed too.

I had plenty to do with mine.

1994-1995 Mustang GT

5.0 is easier to work on than the later 4.6 cars due to the smaller heads. Also cheaper to upgrade.

compared to the foxes they are cheaper, more modern interior, and safer if 10% heavier.

240s are overpriced now, 300s are clumsy.

Lots of tracks arent friendly to open topped cars. Adding a cage is another level of cost, complexity and functional compromise. (still alot to do as far as auto-x, rally-x and street driving).

I agree, the only things being the 4.6 is harder to work around with the bigger head design, (of course you can get a 5.0 sn95) and the fox is lighter

Also cheaper and I think better looking.

Id say some sort of Honda. A Crx, EF hatch EG hatch maybe, but there are many to choose from. Nothing is simpler and cheaper to work on, and little is lighter. With the unassisted steering, direct shifting, and revvy engines they are great fun to drive. The closed roof will open up possibilities to racing.
