Well, I would suggest that paint development & gearbox development are very different teams :) But I see the gist of what you’re saying. To your specific points...Lexus would sell ~32 manual gearbox cars a year, so I don’t see that happening anytime soon. Overall their cars are becoming very, very good...I think
